From the previous units, we have learned that globalization both brings positive and negative consequences to the world. Despite the global efforts to promote the protection of human rights and the environment to achieve sustainable development such as “the establishment of an international framework that facilitates economic sharing to create an equal world” (http://www.sharing.org/why-nations-need-to-share/global-poverty-inequality), we could not deny the fact that there is a huge disparity of living standard across the world. Human rights have been around for as long as we can remember now, but in the recent years they have been really precise. Even with the laws getting stricter, there are many and it is hard to get every single person to do the right thing and be reasonable, in this case to obey and respect human rights. That’s why to this day human rights are not acknowledged to the extent that they should be. While human rights being actualized should be the goal, many countries and people already have disagreements with them. Furthermore, for them to be strict and final for every person would not to be possible any time in the near future as they weren’t in the past.

Babo refuses to speak after he is taken prisoner at the end of Benito Cereno as an act of defiance against his captors. Unlike Benito, who is forced to speak by the court in the deposition, Babo demonstrates his free will and authority as the leader of the rebellion by choosing to remain silent. The court recognizes Babo not as a human being but as a slave whose value lies solely on his body. His silence shows his continued rebellion against the oppression of slavery and challenge the court’s authority over him as a man. Babo recognizes the futility in testifying the justice in his violence to a court that accepts slavery as a legal institution.

I. INTRODUCTION a. BACKGROUND: Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different countries, a procedure compelled by international trade and investment, and supported by information technology. Furthermore, this process has an effect on various other systems such as on the environment, culture, political systems, economic development and prosperity and lastly, on human physical well-being in societies around the world. “Since 1950, for example, the volume of world trade has increased by 20 times, and from just 1997 to 1999 flows of foreign investment nearly doubled, from $468 billion to $827 billion” (York, 2016). Technology has been another primary driver of globalization,

The data on growth and income inequality seem to contradict the optimism of the proponents of globalization. By conceiving of globalization
It is perhaps opportunely that our government is able to push through boundaries and traditions to come up with resolutions and better policies/laws. All this time, the Philippine Economy has been deemed to have strong growth hindered by political uncertainties. This is so true. We have a potential to be great and yet we still move slow towards our development and sustainability. Our country has its own strengths and weaknesses that affect positively and/or negatively our over-all status.
CALELAO, Kyla Ellen, M. SURVIVING THE CYNICAL EFFECT OF GLOBALIZATION IN THE COUNTRY “We were all humans until, race disconnected us, religion separated us, politics divided us, and wealth classified us.” Despite of the great impact of it in the advancement of our country, globalization has been threatening our lives and the worst thing is that we, Filipinos, are not aware of this threat brought by the phenomenon. The widening of the gap between the rich and poor people, a result of globalization, puts the Philippines deeper in the quicksand of poverty and also causes social injustices among men.
