Nowadays, people use lots of languages that you usually can’t find in the dictionaries. These informal words and expressions are known as ‘slang’. As stated in TheFreeDictionary.com, slang is “a kind of language occurring chiefly in casual and playful speech…used in place of standard terms for added raciness, humor, irreverence, or other effect". Using slang may affect the language and confuse non-native speakers. We cannot say that using slang is bad or completely unacceptable but we can say that overuse of slang terms can negatively affect people especially non-native speakers because sometimes, they can 't differentiate between proper English and colloquial talk. Slang has both positive and negative effects on Non-native speakers. Languages are constantly changing and growing as well as slang .There are new slang expressions born every day. Slang changes frequently, so it is difficult to find a slang dictionary. If you asked why does slang changes frequently the answer will be simply because when people hear the same slang so often they’ll become desensitized to it and it no longer evokes the desired emotion as before. Furthermore, Language is a component of culture and cultures are always evolving as well as slang. Studies show that students these days are becoming so familiar with using slang.
