At a very early age, students spend most of their time in school. These learning environments, created by the teachers, play a very important role when it comes to the development of the child. This environment is established at the beginning of the year, and can be favorable for helping students work cooperatively in order to learn. There are many different factors that go into an environment, and many different components to take into consideration when thinking about a child’s needs. The classroom environment is either going to improve a student's ability to learn or impede it. Infants and toddlers will learn that they are loved, and being taking care of through a teacher's use of language with them. It is through language, that a child will truly learn to trust those around them in a classroom environment. A teacher can create a positive classroom environment through different language techniques. Such as, using the child’s name when speaking to them. This lets the child know that you are talking to just them personally. Looking into the child’s eyes is also important. This means adjusting your level by either bending down or squatting, or sitting in a small chair so that you are at eye level. Use a softer tone of voice when communicating. This creates a more comfortable environment for the child. It is also important to praise the toddlers especially when they start to learn to do things on their own. If a teacher praises a child for a new accomplishment, the child will be willing to continue to try new things on his/her own. It is also crucial to encourage toddlers to use more words. Teachers can guide children to speak in sentences by talking with them, never at them. An effective way to do this would be to talk with small groups of kids during meals, circle times, and while they play. Teachers should also constantly encourage children to talk more about what it is they are doing. To help students feel welcomed in the classroom, teachers should listen to them when they speak. Giving a student your complete and undivided attention will help them feel like a trusted member of the class. Through constant communication, and positive reactions to a child's attempt to use new language, children will naturally learn to speak in sentences and be confident in their surrounding
