Even though it was not as severe as the Great Depression, it still dealt a heavy blow to our nation in general. The reason I am here talking about child poverty is so that we can work together as a nation to help decrease the rise of child poverty and make the future of our nation even brighter and stronger by starting from our children. But first, let us all look at some of the impacts child poverty has on our nation. First, it reflects badly on the government for being unable to prevent the child poverty rates from increasing and becoming the second worst of the developed nations. This also makes us citizens concerned about our future as the rates of child poverty is still increasing even though it is much slowly then how fast it was increasing.
Poverty is a growing issue that is widespread in third- world countries; which affects the way of life for millions of people. Poverty affects the economy because there are many people out there who are unemployed. Many people in the world have jobs that offer minimum wage, which they can hardly use to pay their bills. People in poverty are suffering sometimes due to circumstances, which they were born into. Others face poverty because of hardships or loss they have faced in their lives.
It sounds very sinister for me to even think about that, but it is true. Research shows that developing countries that have invested in family planning, smaller families and slower population growth have achieved higher productivity, more savings and more productive investment (IrishTimes). With little population comes stronger economic. This results in a chance for the poor to become part of the middle class that countries like the United States and Great Britain have. Poverty of course is a bad thing, but it can help control our population, that is also a whole other issue.
The country that is more affected with rural poverty is Honduras, with 75% of its population living in rural poverty. According to Merco Press, the FAO-Cepal Report, rural poverty has been decreasing in past years but still it is affecting a large amount of the population. The income of the exportation of product depends on the single largest export, coffee. Most of this product and other products such as bananas, are being exported to USA, this is helping Central America’s economy to be more
Imagine being so hungry you can’t even move. Having to sleep in a house made of dirt, or being so thirsty because there is no safe drinking water. People around the World face these problems everyday. 328,000,000 children live in extreme poverty, and 1 in 10 people live on less than $1.90 a day. The conditions they live in are horrible and everyone should do what they can to help end poverty and world hunger.
It can be seen quickly in early childhood education, especially because it is more likely to be weaker in poorer areas and children living in poverty. In the words of researcher Boghani, they acknowledge the fact that several studies show that children who are raised and grew up in poverty have a difficulty of escaping poverty once they become adults (Boghani, 2017). For example, a 2009 study by the National Center for Children in Poverty, researchers found that children who lived in poverty were more likely to experience poverty when becoming adults, as well as their likelihood of being poor in adulthood increased with the number of years that they lived in poverty as a child (Fass, Dinan & Aratani, Y.,
1 billion out of 2.2 billion children in the world are in poverty (Shah). That’s every second child. Shah states that one in four people live without electricity. People living in poverty have less access to education and are more likely to commit crime, and their children are less likely to be successful as adults. This creates low social mobility and poor health standards, which lead to more social spending and a financial strain on the economy.
In today’s society, America is ailed by the instantaneous increase of Americans living in poverty, causing families to take several risks in order to provide all of their family’s necessities. Although it may seem that America is the “land of opportunity”, millions of Americans struggle to survive on how much they earn. Throughout the United States, indigent Americans experience many difficult obstacles in order to survive illustrating their need to provide for their family. A recent article about understanding the effects of poverty states “The number of homeless children throughout the U.S has increased by 60 percent over the past six years” (Sheffield, Rachel). This statistic is very scary because poverty in the U.S is constantly getting worse.
In fact, capitalism has, together with poverty, led to a series of other issues. You could say that poverty is the “driving force” behind many of the social issues in the US. One could have made a long list of social issues caused by poverty. To begin with, one of the most problematic issues for the poor is that many of them are socially excluded from the society (Poverties). If you are poor, it is quite normal that you will not achieve a good education.
