Power Outages Advantages And Disadvantages

I chose the problem power outages because in the world we live in today electronics can be found anywhere for which we need electricity. If the electricity would fall out we would lose so much. We can find electricity anywhere now, in houses, on streets, what we play with. If the power would fall out we wouldn 't be able to see at night, heat up houses, cook meals. When choosing a problem I immediately noticed how important electricity actually is, and I named only a few simple needs for electricity that we have. These power outages appear when coronal mass ejection are directed towards earth, the shock wave of the traveling mass of solar energetic particles causes geomagnetic storm that may disrupt earth 's magnetosphere, extending it on the night side and compressing it on the day side. When the magnetosphere reconnects on the nightside, it releases power on the order of terawatt scale, which is directed back to the earth 's upper atmosphere, causing power outages. …show more content…

One way I found to prevent power outages caused by the sun 's coronal mass ejections is that you would have to cut off all the electricity, so the electricity wouldn 't be able to turn on all at the same time which would cause the power outages. This solution is so much cheaper and so much easier than the other solutions because scientists have already found a way to see when the next wave will come and since they are always checking anyway no extra money needs to be spent. And when the calculations predict there will be a hit on the magnetic sphere, you cut all the electricity off and that 's how you prevent it. I got this information from Steve Taranovich who made his studies available on Planet
