I chose the problem power outages because in the world we live in today electronics can be found anywhere for which we need electricity. If the electricity would fall out we would lose so much. We can find electricity anywhere now, in houses, on streets, what we play with. If the power would fall out we wouldn 't be able to see at night, heat up houses, cook meals. When choosing a problem I immediately noticed how important electricity actually is, and I named only a few simple needs for electricity that we have. These power outages appear when coronal mass ejection are directed towards earth, the shock wave of the traveling mass of solar energetic particles causes geomagnetic storm that may disrupt earth 's magnetosphere, extending it on the night side and compressing it on the day side. When the magnetosphere reconnects on the nightside, it releases power on the order of terawatt scale, which is directed back to the earth 's upper atmosphere, causing power outages. …show more content…
One way I found to prevent power outages caused by the sun 's coronal mass ejections is that you would have to cut off all the electricity, so the electricity wouldn 't be able to turn on all at the same time which would cause the power outages. This solution is so much cheaper and so much easier than the other solutions because scientists have already found a way to see when the next wave will come and since they are always checking anyway no extra money needs to be spent. And when the calculations predict there will be a hit on the magnetic sphere, you cut all the electricity off and that 's how you prevent it. I got this information from Steve Taranovich who made his studies available on Planet
When the fault happens, the high currents pass though the lines depending on their impedances to provide the fault what needs. As shown in Fig. 3 and Fig. 4, the power flow in all buses (bus 1 is blue, bus 2 is red, bus 3 is black, and bus 4 is green) would be changed after the circuit breakers resulting in change the configuration of the system. The spike of power flow in this test system at clearing time is caused by the switching of circuit breakers of Line 2 to off-line and
In this control system, sub-stations are work separately and all are connect to each other through grid system. If any sub-system's control system is shuts so in that case that sub-system area will effected. In addition, no need to shut whole system. In addition, if the fault is big so in that case that area power supply will start through another sub-station via grid system. Figure: decentralized system architecture
Part 1: It would effect everything on the planet, plants would be less able to produce the suns energy and living organisms would be in big trouble. A short term effect would be decreasing plant populations and a long term effect would be a decreasing population of every organism on the planet. i. Much like the first one, if the sun was completely blocked producers could not produce, thus consumers could not eat them and get energy and the decompress could not break down the organisms if they're not alive. It would result in the overall extinction of living organisms on earth. ii.
1. When the Constitution was drafted “Article II, Section 2, clause 2 grants the President the power to ‘appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the Supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States [except those whose positions are not otherwise already provided for in the Constitution. And] Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers…in the President alone” (Presidential Powers). However, the issue of removal powers of the president where not addressed within the Constitution, therefore this issue is one that has been debated. The issue with removal power is if the president is given too much power and many member of Congress opposed this power.
Power plants burn fuel to produce heat to generate energy; however, nuclear power plants use the heat given off fission to turn water into steam. Nuclear energy is without a doubt a great way to power our homes because, Nuclear power plants are safer than other energy alternatives. Nuclear plants are safer than other energy alternatives. Coal is responsible for five times more deaths than nuclear power plants, coal also causes over one thousands more serious causes of illness than nuclear. Nuclear plants produce steam while coal plants, heat water by burning coal that produces greenhouse emissions.
The Carrington Event, also known as the Solar Storm of 1859, is the largest geomagnetic solar storm in recorded history, resulting from a coronal mass ejection; a massive surge of magnetized plasma originating from the Sun’s surface on the morning of September 1st, 1859. As the mass of plasma hit the Earth’s magnetosphere mere hours after the event had occurred on the Sun’s surface, southern aurorae were seen as far north as Queensland, Australia, and the aurora borealis was powerful enough that residents of the north-eastern US could read a newspaper by the aurora’s light. The solar storm ravaged the primitive telegraph communication system used in 1859, and caused damage to electrical grids worldwide. CAUSES The Carrington Event was caused by a massive burst of electromagnetic radiation, magnetized gas and plasma released into the solar wind by the Sun’s corona in a phenomenon called a coronal mass ejection (CME).
5. We might not be able to solve all our problems, but there are actions we can take right now to get our problems under control. For each lecture, identify one immediate and realistic action we could take to solve the problem. It is crucial to solve the issues covered in the lectures as they are all relevant to our society.

I remembered my great-grandmother saying that when she was a child her father was a sharecropper. It stirred my curiosity about them as a society, what they were like and such as that, so I chose to write my essay about Sharecropping. When I finished with high school, I wanted to go to college to study journalism. The only way we would ever afford it was if I earned a scholarship,
But what should you do when the skies open up and wreak havoc on your residence or business? Even if the strike hits next to it, the voltage
Think of something so incredibly influential in your life that it literally has the power to change the way you think. You may have thought of technology. Everywhere you go, you see technology. In classrooms, at homes, on the streets, everywhere! Some may see this as good, others, not so much.
This first major topic that we started exploring even before opening the book is the role of technology in our lives. For our first topic we talked
I wish I was able to write about something that I enjoy. Since I write a lot for my course/assignments I do have writing assignments that I am most proud of. My 9th grade final research
Scientists have found that renewable energy is a path towards the future for a clean and safe environment. Throughout all the studies and findings, there is a continuing fret whether people should be able to use a traditional way of energy or renewable energy, solar power. Solar energy is seen to be effective since there has progressively been more places that are benefiting from solar usage; however there are also some who disagree. Solar energy sources are derived from natural sources and is implicated throughout our daily lives. From the lights in the streets to the computers we use at home.
In the modern age of technology, the abundance of batteries cannot easily be overlooked. Batteries convert chemical energy into electrical energy and power several electronic devices such as cell phones, laptops, tablets, PDAs, and iPods to name a few. Furthermore, they provide power to households and several industrial enterprises around the world. Indeed, these batteries have become very advantageous to people because of the convenience they provide in everyday encounters. However, batteries can also be harmful despite the advantages they offer.
