UCLA has a price of $12,918 for Tuition and Fees and $15,069 for Room and Board(UCLA). Meanwhile, Alabama has an out-of-state tuition fee of $27,750 per year and a room and board fee of $13,050 per year(Alabama). Alabama is much more expensive than UCLA because there are out-of-state fees are more expensive as opposed to in-state fees, that is the challenge that many students face. Driving to UCLA is an estimate of $600 a year or more(UCLA) as opposed to traveling to Alabama is approximate $10,470 a year(UA). There is also financial aid that comes into play that helps one reduce the cost. UCLA offers financial support that may be awarded based on need, academic merit, background, specific talents or professional interests and $24,163 is the average 1st-year financial aid package(UCLA). Financial aid is very helpful and effective in UCLA and that is what makes it so affordable as opposed to Alabama. Federal financial aid is awarded in Alabama based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). March 1 is the priority date for maximum consideration of limited federal funding such as the Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (UA). In Alabama, $15,012 is the average 1st-year financial aid package(UA), a much lower financial aid as supposed to UCLA.
