Election is fast approaching and in less than a month, millions of registered Filipino voters around the country and all over the world would be casting their votes and would be electing our new president. As the election day is nearing, it is very important for the Filipino people to choose wisely who among the presidential candidates is the most qualified for the top leadership position in the Philippine government because their choice would certainly play an important role in what will happen to our country in the next six years. First, many would say that it is waste to vote for a person who would eventually die, but don 't these people think that the other candidates are not expelled from the likeliness of dying soon as well? Who would forget that the much loved late President Magsaysay and former DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo both died of a plane crash? These were unexpected accidents and these are just examples that anyone at any moment could die. Death isn 't something that everyone prepares for. Second, many would say they are disappointed with the senator 's choice of running mate who is Bong Bong Marcos, the son of the late Ferdinand Marcos. I believe that Senator Miriam 's choice of running mate might be because of the convenience that it brings to both of them because the two of them are available and looking for partners. Unlike in countries like the United States of America, we are not forced to vote for both the president and vice president candidate of a political party. Just like what Tort (2015) wrote in one his articles, the choice of running mate is an insignificant factor compared to the individual merit of a presidential candidate. He even cited examples of many elections in the country which resulted to a president and a vice president coming from different parties. In a country where the election system works differently, pairings of candidates is not something that one should really focused on when making decisions.
