SURVIVAL OVER ANYTHING
Being alive is one of the most beautiful things a human being could ever ask for. Having a life means having a purpose, an impact, and significance to the world. To be alive means to survive, so survival should always be a primary goal, because if you died, what would you feel when you are dead? Where do you go and what's next? The author, Elie Wiesel, is a holocaust survivor, who wrote the book ¨Night¨ which is about his thoughts and experiences in the Holocaust. Elie Wiesel took ¨his own anguish and imaginatively metamorphosed it into art¨ said Curt Leviant, a novelist and reader. Elie Wiesel showed the readers of the book that even through the most horrible and upsetting events of his life, it didn't stop him from keeping on going, he didn't put survival aside because he knew the purpose he meant to his family, and the people, he had connected with during those crucial times. Although most people think that survival should not always be the primary goal, survival SHOULD always be the primary goal because most people would do anything to survive, even kill one another, so this is a primary goal for everyone, and living has many opportunities for everyone to grow, move, support and learn from. If you think

This would be the case if the legacy I leave behind is more important than my survival. Rick Rescorla was a 62-year-old man who was a British-American soldier, police officer, educator, and private security specialist. On September 11, 2001, he sacrificed his life to save 2,687 people who were suffering an upsetting attack on the United States. He knew how dangerous it was for him to go back to save others, he knew that it would cost his life but he still decided to go back and help others. By doing so, he died a tragic death. He left an important legacy to the family of the people he saved and inspired others to put their life on the line no matter the
What should be the ultimate goal of all humans? What should be the ultimate goal of all humans? Is it love, happiness, to be rich, and to grow old and have a beautiful big house? In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, tells a story about him, a Jewish boy from Sighet, a small town in Transylvania, who got sent to the concentration camp with his father during the Holocaust. Throughout the book, he focuses on surviving and working his way out of there or else he will die.
He rarely displayed his feelings, not even within his family, and was more involved with the welfare of others than with that of his own kin(Weisel 8). Lastly, Elie Wiesel was hopeful and optimistic I know this because the passage states, “Don’t lose hope… Have faith in life, a thousand times fate… Help each other. That is the only way to survive”(Weisel 41). This evidence is crucial to the character of elie and who he was as a person.
He showed his hardships, and his losses, all while fighting to survive. Something that Elie wants to ensure is that this
Elie emphasizes dedication throughout the book by using his father and God as models for what to aspire to and live for. Elie would have let them down and leave his father alone if he had given up on them. Elie's main objective was to stay alive and be with his father. “Suddenly, a cry rose in the wagon, the cry of a wounded animal. Someone had just died”(Wiesel 103).
In this moment, Elie is feeling deep sorrow for the loss of his father, and sits in his bunk emotionless. Not only does Elie feel the emotional pain from the loss of his father, but also the motivation that his father gave him to keep fighting and stay alive. Wiesel even goes as far as to say after his liberation “I shall not describe my life during that time. It no longer mattered” (Wiesel 113). This quote helps the reader understand the emotion going through Wiesel and many other survivors at the time.
During all of the struggles Elie gains a bit of life knowledge, and learns more emotions about himself. If this journey never happened Elie would still be focussing about his studies and not about his family. A fact Elie acquires during the holocaust is always to stay positive in hard times. An example of this is when Elie is running for miles and notices men giving up just makes Elie think about when he can sleep and eat at the next camp. When news comes that the Russians will save the prisoners, Elie keeps this as a positive and keeps thinking this horrifying journey will be over.
Despite some people being in such drastic situations, they still show humanity in their actions. In the book “night” by Ellie Weisel. It talks about his life during the holocaust and what he had to go through while they put him in a concentration camp. Many of the inmates that Elie Wiesel was in camp with had shown humanity in their own ways and actions, despite being in such dangerous situations. And many of those actions could have impacted their survival.
Elie Wiesel's character transforms throughout the book as he experiences the Holocaust. While some may argue that Elie's experiences made him weaker as a person, it is clear that they also made him stronger, and more committed to fighting for human rights. At the beginning of the book, Elie is an innocent young man, deeply committed to his family. However, as he and his family are deported to the concentration camps, Elie's faith is being challenged. He witnesses countless atrocities and suffers unimaginable trauma, including the loss of his father.
Elie Wiesel was one of the fortunate individuals who had pushed through the forever-narrowing hope of survival. In Elie Wiesel’s Night, a memoir, Elie ultimately survived the holocaust through many choiceless choices. These choices ranged from willingly changing his age, choosing life or faith, and marching with little hope of another day. One of the first instances that required Elie to
Primary Goal - Survival Have you ever really thought about what your primary goal is in life? Or the reason why you’re still alive? People might say that our primary goal changes in different situations and eras. During the Holocaust, where millions of Jews in the concentration camps are resisting death ceaselessly, their primary goal might be to survive. Whereas in the modern world of the twenty-first century, our primary goal differs and might be as simple as going to school or arriving at a designated location on time.
In this book Elie speaks of his hardships and how he survived the concentration camps. Elie quickly changed into a sorrowful person, but despite that he was determined to stay alive no matter the cost. For instance, during the death
He showed the readers a personal view of the Nazi's treatment to the prisoners. The hell Elie went through in the camps is something that he will never forget. In contrast the dehumanization the jews received was very harsh it was something that changed their lives forever. They lost their possession, family, morality and their identity. Because of the strength Elie had through this horrible experience he has gained a stronger
Humanity is capable of doing many things, both good and bad. Humans are selfish, we prioritize what is important to us and what is not. Brutal situations such as the Holocaust show the extent that a human being will go to survive. Elie and his fellow prisoners go through many hardships, such as starving and leaving loved ones to die. Each day for them, is a blessing because they do not know when they are going to die, it could be the next day or even the next hour.
Although survival was a key aspect in concentration camps, Elie gradually begins to live numbly, surviving only because instinct told him to. He no longer cared for the meaning of life, and his only thoughts were of bread, much like a stray dog hoping it would find morsels of food to live off of. However, he didn't start off this way. At the start, he lived for his father. Schlomo Wiesel was Elie's only reason to live, but prior to his father's death, he slowly began to free himself of caring.
His death meant the uncertainty survival of millions of americans from the
