Boundaries between Reality and Fiction are often exposed and highlighted through the use of various narrative techniques, thereby making it a fundamental element in both texts. The narrator of Slaughterhouse Five seeks to reinvent his “recount” of the “destruction of Dresden”. As written in The French Lieutenant’s Woman, we “fictionalize” our past as “We are all in flight from reality” (Fowles 97). This is apparent in Slaughterhouse Five as the narrator makes it clear that his story has a testimonial function although he does not construct the narrative in its original chronological structure. Instead, the narrator uses a nonlinear chronological narrative structure that truly reflects the indelible and traumatic impact of war.
When you start reading the novel you are aware of reading about a plague that spread through Europe. When we relate this novel to Camus’s time period, we understand that he is relating this “plague” to the Black Death (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2014) that killed millions. The novel, however does not only look at natural, literal meaning of the plague but the when you look at the plot as a whole; it is a big metaphor to the Nazi Occupation in Germany. There are key events in the story that are evidence of this statement. At first, during the Nazi occupation in Germany, Jews were banned from all services and professions.
The breakout of the Black Death was considered as punishment from god, but this essay will explore three main factors which create a specific circumstance for breakout and spread of the Black Death. The Black Death killed 1/2-3/1 population of Europe and caused a sharp rise of death rates, which affected European economy from different aspects. As economist Gregory Clark points out, anything caused the rise of the death rate increased wealth per head of population. It seems the Black Death in European set a good example. The improvement of Living standards in European during 1350-1600 attributed to the Black Death to a certain extent.
Like Atwood predicted, themes in this novel are still relevant in today's society. Once Gilead replaced the United States, those who would did not conform to the new government's standards were shipped off or killed. This does in fact mirror the past- it is incredibly similar to the way Nazi's gathered up Jewish, queer, and disabled people, and carried out a mass genocide. The Sons of Jacob, who overthrew the government and suspended the

Although it was already decades ago, its damages: hatred between ethnic groups, issue of comfort woman, physical, psychological and environmental damage still remain nowadays. Obviously, Hitler was key person in starting the war, he actively invaded European states and declared war. Nevertheless, Hitler could not rise to power so expeditiously without the favorable condition provided by the Versailles Peace Settlement, which should be regarded as the fundamental cause of World Was Two. Firstly, the Versailles treaty helped the rise of Nazism, hence sowed the seed for Germany to take revenge by starting a world war.
This will kill that, the book will kill the edifice ; the Archbishop says bluntly with a printed book . This is a scene from “Notre Dame de Paris ”, a novel written by Victor Hugo during the chaos of the July Revolution in 1830. That scene is so significant that the author makes a pause and takes up a considerable amount of time to carry on with his own argument. This argument about architecture and typography is an interesting part of the novel, along with the technical description about the gothic cathedral at the introductory chapter. It overlaps his life and times with the historical background of the characters in the novel and parallels the author in a world of an entire transformation from the political revolution and the cathedral in a vortex of a sudden innovation from the printing revolution.

Chapter One Literature Review 1.1 Origins and Evolution of Dark Tourism Dark Tourism (Foley & Lennon, 1996), the most common phrase used to describe visiting historical sites relating to mass death and atrocities, has roots in the scholastic works and terminology of black spot tourism (Rojek ,1993), thanatourism (Seaton, 1996), dissonant heritage tourism (Tunbridge & Ashworth, 1996), and morbid tourism (Blom, 2000). Seaton 's term "thanatourism" is also well-known within literature as it refers to the origins of this dark type of tourism. Thanatoptic tradition -dates back to the Middle Ages- refers to the contemplation and interest in death. Additionally, Seaton (2009) highlights the fact that thanatourism is entrenched in the Christian traditions. Therefore, the idea of dark tourism is not a new one and the dawn of such interest in death, in addition to places of atrocities and disasters, started long time ago.
