Throughout the world we have incidents happening that make it on tv, radio or even billboards. At times, even incidents that happened in the past are brought up such as the terrifying story of the notable dictator Adolf Hitler or bullying around the world. All these incidents have many people debating, suffering, and uncompromising leadership, but what does it feel like getting hurt and losing freedom? Dictators and bullies enjoy taking people’s freedom away and use manipulation/intimidation to compel their victims to do their wills, so dictators/bullies make it harsh for them. However, this doesn’t mean that dictators and bullies are identical.
“What's wrong with the world, mama, People livin' like they ain't got no mamas” This verse illustrates how this generation of people that act off of impulse as if they have no home training or morals being reckless in the decisions that have lasting consequences that not only affect the individual but others as well. Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism, But we still got terrorists here livin' In the USA, the big CIA The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK. This verse talks about all the violence that happens overseas like the feud with Iraq but more so the feuds that we have on the day to day basis: Gang violence, senseless killings over drugs and crimes the actual harm that we cause to each other. But if you only have love for your own race then you only leave space to discriminate and to discriminate only generates hate and when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah Madness is what you demonstrate. In this verse it talks about the tolerance and open- minded; we must have for everyone and not just our own race because to do so only leads to prejudice discrimination.
The repercussions of labels leading to discrimination in modern times are controversial violence, as shown by international events like the formation of ISIS as well as domestic ones like the Ferguson and Boston Riots. If nothing is done, discrimination as well as violence will continue domestically as well as
In the last few months, the current situation of asylum seekers has caused an increment of racist remarks in the news. The migrant crisis is currently considered a hot topic in the press, what implies that those events are considered newsworthy (NewsBank, 2015; Van Dijk, 1991, p.3). Actually, the press has always been a significant tool to spread ideologies, being racism one of them (Van Dijk, 1991, p.10). Consequently, racism in the press is an interesting topic of research for many sociolinguists, as the linguistics’ professor Teun A. Van Dijk.
America is said to have a melting pot of cultures brought together from different nationalities obtained from different individuals from across the world. However, as a result of increasing crimes, violence and terrorism, people believe that all blacks are thieves or all Muslims are terrorists. The US does have a problem with xenophobia because they fear that immigrants want to take away their jobs, they discriminate against Muslim and they seek to place more restrictions on immigrants entering the country. Firstly, people fear that immigrants from other countries want to take
Radicalization is the process in which individuals hope for a serious change within society. Several thoughts come to my mind when I hear radicalization of U. S prisoners. For several years it has been stated that radicalization of prisoners are a threat to citizen of the United State; I am a strong believer that radicalization can be positive or negative. Radicalization has shown not to always be negative.
Before the rule of Shekau, the group had targeted federal and state buildings, including prisons and police stations. After the death of Mohammed Yusuf, attacks on civilian targets such as schools, churches and even small towns increased. The cooperation with Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has led the group into more frequent, complex attacks. The group now moved into actions of violence to achieve their goals. Officially being named a terrorist group by the United States in 2013, the group has now completed over 600 reported attacks(www.justice.gov).
Islamophobia and Media Written by Anis Adrina Md Nor The contemporary perception of people especially Western people towards Islam have been negative as there are a lot of media reports on Muslims’ hostile acts. During the event when there is any terrorists attack, people would immediately relate it with Muslims and Islam although the fact about the attack is unclear. The prejudice against Muslim started even before the 9/11 attacks in the United States, however, the events and other violence actions by terrorists after that period has caused an increase in anti-Muslim attitudes in many countries. This anti-Muslim sentiment also has been contributed by the modern media framing of Islam where Muslims are pictured primarily as dangerous, hostile,
Terrorism & Homegrown Extremism Terrorism is a confusing term that it is very difficult to clearly define due to the many different meanings that it has acquired throughout history since the French Revolution (Hoffman, 2006). Many different current events that have occurred since then, such as the 9/11 attacks among many others, have altered or modified the meaning of terrorism. However, most modern definitions of terrorism agree that terrorism is the use violence to accomplish a political, religious, or ideological objective (Hoffman, 2006). Therefore, my own definition of terrorism is the use or an act of violence that seeks to create terror to a large segment of the population in an effort to coerce the population or decision makers to follow the demands of those that are using violence and creating terror. Homegrown extremism refers to when an individual develops extremist ideologies that seek to cause harm or terrorist attacks against fellow citizens (Striegher, 2015).
History is full of horrible crimes stories and more will be added in the future. While some dare to believe in a world without crime, there always will be crimes of one kind or another and of variable atrocity. During the twenty-first century, more and more crimes have been committed in the world, many of them on behalf of religion. Although, several killings have occurred, notably with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, due to divergences in regards to religious beliefs, this paper will focus on crimes in relation to Islam. Mostly ever since the tragic event of September 11th, Islam, notably due to the organizations associated to it, has been quite fingered and marginalized.
Many investigators have found examples of mass killers emulating their choices from media. Media has had a huge impact on today 's society, but the statements of media are having a connection with mass shooting that have been proven false. Mass shootings occur for various of reasons, but as many believe the main problem is "copycatting". The FBI and other threat assessments experts have found evidence that shows that plotters have looked at past attacks both for operational details or inspiration from the executioner. On the other hand, several mass shooters desire fame in comments and manifestos, making media have a huge connection with mass shooting.
The United States faces many challenges today. In today’s society, racial profiling and terrorism would be at the top of the list. Racial profiling is widespread and has tremendous effects on the communities of color, national origin, and ethnicity. With the heightened awareness of terrorism in the United States, citizens have become fearful of other races and ethnicities. Racial profiling speculating that certain individuals are more likely to be involved in criminal activity or terrorism based on their race or ethnicity.
