Animal Testing: Pro How do you feel about your medicines being tested, so you know there are not that many side effects? That knowledge is because of animal testing. Once your medicine or product is tested on animals and shown that it is ready, it goes out into the world to help us people. There are tons of ways that animal testing has benefited us in the past, and it continues to help us. Animal testing has saved the lives of thousands of people, but some people think that is unacceptable and want it to be stopped. If it is working, why stop it? First, animal testing has helped us for a long time. The study of animals benefits us. Kids would not be educated in biology and other fields if we

Animal testing is to ensure that vaccines are safe (ProCon.org). Animal testing has been going on for years, and now there is no other way that scientists can be able to test these products. Since there is no other way to go around animal testing, some products have to be tested to ensure their safety for humans. Animal testing has become the best way to test products and medication for the best of human beings. Plenty of scientists favor it and would want to continue testing on animals. Animal testing has already become an easy way of testing that is proven that it works. If there is a way in the future that would be a better option than animal testing, then scientists would probably choose that. Animal testing is the best way to make sure we stay safe, and that animal testing saves lives in the …show more content…
There are people that would say that animal testing is brutal and harsh. Some people would say it is not right to test goods or products on animals. Other people would say that animal testing doesn’t help and is not reliable. People may say this, but they have nothing to prove it, it is wrong. Animal testing may appear inhumane and cruel, but there is the Animal Welfare Act that protects the way animals are treated (“Animal Welfare Act”). Animals do not have rights, it is perfectly legal to test products on them. Animals are also a reliable resource to use because a ton of animals have very similar DNA to humans, chimpanzees share 99% of their DNA with humans and mice share 98% of their DNA with us. It may not be a perfect match but it is close. The people that disagree with animal testing are just looking into the wrong information that is mostly false. They aren’t looking at what will help us in the future. Animal testing is what helps
And nearly every Laureate in Physiology or Medicine has relied on animal data for the research. The big question is, if we were to take away the animal testing, and take away what we, and scientist rely so heavily on, where does that leave us? Our technologies, our vaccines, our antibiotics, organ transplants, dialysis, blood transfusions, all nothing, never discovered. The essential need for animal research is recognized and supported by health agencies all over the world. Without it, a big portion of the world population today would not have had the privilege to walk this earth.
Logan Anderson Ms. DeFranca 7th Grade English Section 1 9 February, 2023 Animal Testing Argument How would you feel if you were an animal taken away from your habitat for research? You can’t even run away. Each year over 110 million animals are used for testing by humans yet, not enough help is given to them. Although some people think that animal testing is helpful for scientists to find research, we shouldn't test on animals.
In the field of medical testing the use of animal is commonly seen. The use of animals in testing is currently a hot issue. In an article on the Norther Star, author Nathan Fulkerson talks about how animal testing has led to medical breakthroughs. Yet, Animal rights groups and organizations have been pushing for the banning of animal testing. Their reason for pushing the ban is that using the animal testing is cruel and inhumane.
(National Association for Biomedical Research). Not everyone feels the same about animal testing, people have different views on if they like it or not. Animals have served as factors in the investigation of human diseases and have helped with very valuable data in the process of discovering new ways to treat, cure and prevent diseases (National Association for Biomedical Research). People that agree could be feeling that it is good to be testing because it allows scientists and doctors to improve medicines and the people that do not agree with testing could be against it because they do not like the thought of harming animals. It is different for each
Animal testing is defined as “the use of non-human animals in research and development projects, especially for purposes of determining the safety of substances such as foods or drugs” (Dictionary.com). This experimentation has been practiced since around 500 BCE, and has allowed the human race to discover many things that otherwise would have not been discovered (ProCon). The use of animal testing has increased, due to its many necessary benefits, such as: helping form vaccinations and uncovering new diseases in the specific species being tested on (AALAS). However, many animal activist groups such as, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), have spoken out against the issue. These groups claim animal testing to be “inhumane”
Then again, medical examinations involving animal testing have greatly improved the health being of humans. Surgical methods and medications nowadays would not be discovered if it was not for the understanding of the diseases and how the body works. This can be approached by using animal testing. Animal experimentation has contributed to the abundance of medication we now have in the palm of our hands. For instance, we have treatments for asthma, high blood pressure, and diabetes which were all discovered using animal testing.
Do you love animals and hate for them to get hurt? Well if so this is a topic that is very concerning and it is why I believe that it is not okay to do animal testing. There are many reasons why we should not test on animals, and here are a few of them. It cost an enormous amount of money, animals can get injured or killed, and animals are not exactly like us.
We use them to make sure nothing could possibly hurt us, and instead of risking human lives, we use different animals to make sure a product is safe. According to ‘Teen Opinions Matter’, “Finding alternatives to testing on animals can be a difficult task. It is unethical to conduct experiments on human subjects due to the unknown health risks involved. One example of an experiment on humans that went wrong is an experiment conducted by Johns Hopkins University in 2001.” However, this is wrong.
Millions of animals are tortured and killed every year by laboratories testing various products on them. All types of testing is done on all types of animals. Anything from drug testing and cosmetic testing to organ donations. Most of the world's population does not agree with animal testing. Also only about 8% of the experiments show positive results.
Animal testing causes a lot of problems despite it existing for a good reason. Animal testing, which has been around for years, has had an impact on the relationships between humans and animals. Animal testing has proven to be ineffective, inhumane, and causes unnecessary trauma and damage. Animal testing has proved to be ineffective at times along with being inhumane. In the article “Animal Experimentation” when it talks about how experimentation is ineffective it says “Animals that are used most often in experimentation have vastly different anatomy, metabolism, genetics, disease expression, and other biological systems than humans” (Longe).
There are better means to test products. All these factors play part in why I believe animal testing should come to an end. Every human being is born with the desire to have rights. Those rights can consist of speech, choice, or rights as simple as choosing your classes.
The first reson animal testing should be continued is so we can make new cures shore new medicines are safe. Without animal testing some medicines would have harmed humans. Animal testing is a much safer way to test these medicines before they reach humans. Animal testing has also led to some breakthroughs in medical science. Animal testing is also helping with finding some cures to Cancer and Alzheimer 's. Smith said “if animal research were prohibited, scientific advances would be hopelessly stymied” (smith).
While animal testing may have been one of the most effective options in the past, that is not necessarily the case now. Animal testing has been called into question many times not only because of the loosely based regulations but also because of the alarming
Animals are or needed for testing in order to keep humans out of harm's way. Using animals prevents people from dying and could save more depending on the medicine being tested. Animals must be used in cases when ethical considerations prevent the use of human subjects. When testing medicines for potential toxicity, the lives of human volunteers should not be put in
Animal testing has allowed the eradication of Smallpox from earth and Polio from North America. Research on animals helps in medical innovation. Animals can be used to determine the safety of a medical product. Animal testing allows a better understanding on medical questions and issues involving human beings and if such questions and issues would harm them. The research and testing of animals, and its positive result in making groundbreaking discoveries outweighs the cons tremendously.
