Problems in the case study
The problem that we see in the case study is that Ms. Sadia have always make them take test on individual bases so it might not be easy for the class to work together as a group. Now Ms. Sadia wants the class to learn as a group. Which might be difficult for the students as it is said in the case study that every individual has their own academic goals. There are certain consequence and challenges that will follow up. Each student with their own different mindset will be working together. As much as learning in a group is fun and interesting it can be challenging too as everyone has their own idea about things, so there might be certain amount of debates going on which is a good thing but it might take more time. It takes time for the both the teacher and the student to adjust to cooperative learning.
Assessing student on individual bases is a traditional practice which sets the stage for competition for the grades and the student don’t help one another, thus there’s no cooperative learning or you can say collaborative learning.
Now what Ms. Sadia need is a good cooperate learning strategy so that she can make students learn and work together.

Stepping directly into some major team work won’t be a good option here, what Ms. Sadia should do here first is she should use the cooperative strategy, Think-pair-share which is also known as turn and talk. In this strategy what she can do is, ask a question to the student and ask them to think for a minute and than discuss it with the person sitting next to them and after words share it with the whole class. This can be very useful as it won’t require that much time and Ms. Sadia can do it at anytime in the lesson. This will also keep the class active and alert. And they will also get to help one
