The populations of India and Bangladesh have been growing at a tremendous pace. This overpopulation has certain advantages, but there are many disadvantages too. Bangladesh has a population of over 160 million people which makes it one of the poorest countries with a large population. India has a population of about 1.34 billion, while about 25 percent of its citizens make less than 2 dollars every day. Overall, India and Bangladesh face many economic, social, health, and environmental challenges due to overpopulation. India’s population has been growing at a tremendous pace over the past decades. Bangladesh faces many economical problems because of overpopulation even though they’re economy has been increasing in the recent years (Quartz). One of the biggest problems in Bangladesh is political instability (World Bank). Since there are more and more people in Bangladesh, people can vote for a candidate who isn’t so qualified and cause a shift in the election. Also, if the wrong candidate is chosen by these new people, the candidate can cause the economy to crash. A major political issue in many countries and especially in Bangladesh is the dowry system. The dowry system is a system where a woman must give her husband’s family a very nice gift and he must accept it when they get married. There are major flaws with the dowry system. First, if the husband’s family doesn’t like the gift, they brutally attack or even kill the bride or members of her family. Another problem with the dowry system is that brides’ families are spending a huge chunk of their money to get a gift which can often make a family poor. Overpopulation plays a huge role in the dowry system. Since there are so many women moving into and being born in the country, they get married early so they don’t live poor and find a man who makes money. The more women there are in the country, the more people will be using the dowry system and continuing it. One of the major health problems caused by overpopulation in Bangladesh is the Infant Mortality Rate. Roughly 240 infants per 100,000 live births die. (K4 Health). Due to overpopulation, many families in poverty are having children which they aren’t able to properly give birth to. This is because those families don’t have access to quality medical technologies. One of the major environmental issues that Bangladesh faces is its pollution (Ahmed). Due to Bangladesh’s overpopulation issues, people are forced to pollute whether its soil, air, or water pollution. Also, when a
(Purpose Doc. 4) Another example of inequality in marriage is dowry deaths. In Asian countries, specifically India, if a man was unhappy with his wife, for not providing children or overcooking his food, the wife would be doused in kerosene and burned to death. The wife could take no similar action and was forced to abide by her husband's will. (Outside Information 1)
Birthday cards, Christmas cards, and wedding gifts are all forms of reciprocity because there is an unspoken expectation of an equal giving back of what has been received (not necessarily the same thing). Another example is intergenerational reciprocity, which involves parents caring for their children and then children growing up and caring for their parents. In India, a more complex form of reciprocity exists with the dowry of the bride. The bride’s family gives the groom’s family a dowry, which cements the two families together in a (hopefully) harmonious match.
At the same time, child brides face another major issue, which is pregnancy. The bodies of those children brides are too fragile to handle pregnancy, but it is still very frequent. Child brides are more likely to have children and less likely to be medically taken care of. In Niger for instance, 11% of brides that are married before the age of 15 deliver their babies in a health facility. Surely, as more people are aware of child marriage from all around the world, child marriage would decline.
Nowadays our world is changing hourly – its political, social and economic global picture depends on the decisions (more or less important, but still important), which are taken every minute. Sometimes it seems that all significant events have taken place, moreover it was a long time ago. At the same time we forget that there are areas of life, our daily lives, which have been completely different recently. In modern Western societies the right to receive education and to vote for women is natural part of life, contrast to the Third world counties, where women still do not have opportunity to take part in decision-making and influence various spheres of life in their countries. Skeptics may wonder: “What is so special about the fact that women are allowed to vote?”
The tradition in India is that women at young ages are traded off as wives. What happens is that men and their families arrange marriages for these
Jonathan Swift’s essay, A Modest Proposal, is famous for satirically suggesting that people start selling their babies for food, which would logically solve the overpopulation and starvation problem in the world. Despite this less than feasible solution, overpopulation is a serious problem in the world, given that there are over seven billion people alive currently. The excessive amount of people living in this world has an adverse effect on both society and the environment. The environment has been destroyed by human pollution and is depleted of natural resources due to the sheer amount of materials needed to support such a large population. In fact, many plastic water bottles used by people are discarded as trash and pollute bodies of water (Soechtig & Lindesy, 2009).
Overpopulation Overpopulation is a condition that is undesirable. Overpopulation is one of the problems that people concern it to. One of the serious countries facing this problem is China. Reports in China show that it has about 1.4 billion people in this country; it takes about one over seven people of the world population. China is the third largest land after Russia and Canada in the world.
The article also points out the long-term damage that can be done to children, stemming directly from the pollutants as well as considering the indirect negative impact that can occur, such as decreased school attendance. They reason that these pollutants can be significantly reduced through the implementation of policies that reduce pollution and, by proxy, health problems in children. I can use this source to present further evidence of the dangers of pollutants to children and their livelihoods. This can resonate within my audience as, not long ago, they themselves were children. Introduction Overpopulation is the excessive population of an area to the point of overcrowding and it is an undesirable condition in every country where the number of existing human population rises to an extent exceeding the carrying capacity of ecological setting. Overpopulation can be result from an increase in births, an increase in immigration, a decline in mortality rates and other factors that may cause overpopulated environment. Therefore, this can cause influence as lack of the available essential materials for survival like water, shelter, social amenities and other because of the numbers of people might be more than the materials for survival. In such condition, this regularly contributes to environmental deterioration, worsening
It was a system of patriarchy, in which every woman was raised believing that they had neither self-control nor self government but that they must yield to the control of dominant male gender”.(Rajpal, para 2) Women have specific roles in which they were supposed to follow or be outcasted by the society. The men were seen as the dominant ones in the relationships. The men had to much control over women, They needed to see how much not having a women in their lives would affect
The system dehumanizes individuals when deciding for both parties as well as violating woman’s rights. They often result in a misjudgment of character as a product of the extremely rushed processed. Also, a lack of true love and compatibility between the couple can lead to a miserable marriage. First of all, the steps the families take to find the suitable partner for their child can be dehumanizing for the people getting married-especially the girl. They will be looking for things that satisfy their requirements for a good person such as wealth, status, and education rather than a person and their character traits.
The social stigma that women are housekeepers and should be confined to the four walls of the house is perhaps a viable cause of gender disparity. They should not raise their voice regarding their fortune for the sake of the prestige of the family. In patriarchal society a lot of weightage is given to men.” The root cause of gender inequality in Indian society lies in its patriarchy system.
(Malkin, 2005) Women mostly have unequal access to health services and education, face glass ceiling at work place. Social customs that force or encourage girls into early child bearing and teenage marriages have dangerous and direct consequences for their health. There are much high levels of brutality and violence against women almost in all nations around the world. This could be among their families where it is treated a normal custom.
Manufacturing sector on the other hand has grown in comparatively slower pace. The overall performance of the Indian manufacturing sector has widespread implications for various aspects of the economy; employment, being one of the chief areas of impact. Since this sector generates large scale employment for low and medium skilled workers, it is imperative to develop features which will create a conducive environment for industries to grow further. The Make in India campaign by the government has given the much needed push to the manufacturing sector. So we can say that India is performing decently and there is huge opportunity for India to grow and increase forex reserve and attract more FDI and FII by expanding its International
In India people between the ages of 15 and 58 are considered to be economically active which means that they have the potential of being gainfully employed. A large portion of India’s workforce is unskilled. Thus skilling and up-skilling of the labour force is required so that the unemployed population of the country can be productively employed. One of the biggest challenges facing the country today is to gainfully employ its growing labour force for greater economic growth.
