Other industries or sectors such as those involving food processing, natural gas liquids, farm product warehousing, electric gas, sanitary service and wholesale trade are also affected.
Investigations have to be initiated no later than 48 hours after the accident. It needs to be carried out within the 48 hours period to ensure evidences and other related information which can be derived out of the accident area is preserved. This is to ensure effective investigation and accurateness of the event unfolding.
Upon completion of the investigation, Process Hazard Analysis (“PHA”) has to be prepared which will include the gathering and completion of Process Safety Information (“PSI”). The PHA will also contain the review of accidents that happened and the safeguarding guidelines to be put in place. PSI pertaining to hazardous chemicals should contain the following:
Toxicity
Toxicity Level of Concern (“LOC”) will provide information of the level (threshold concentration) of exposure to a chemical could hurt people if they breathe it in for a defined length of time, exposure and

The three integrity pillars are:
Operation integrity involves training, safe work practices, and SOPs.
Plant integrity is related to hardware design, maintenance, construction, and reliability;
Design integrity involves process designing, PSI, engineering and material of construction.
OSHA's PSM standard requires a mechanical integrity program to ensure that equipment is designed, installed and operated as intended without chances of failure. To meet this requirement, the plant should implement a mechanical integrity program.
Hot work
Any hot work handling in the plant/facility would require employees to obtain permits due to the exposure of flammable and explosive materials as provided under OSHA's PSM. This allows the authorities to provide fire prevention and protection measures to be undertaken by the employee before a hot-work job begins.
Management of change
Implementation of MOC procedures is essential to prevent incidents, improve facility usage and optimization and reduce downtime or risk. It is also to ensure that changes such as continuous growth and the need for improvements do not introduce new hazards without control or override existing controls. Accuracy of PSI and the incorporation of PHA recommendation into the process and procedures are important as it drastically reduces the chances of
Under work health and safety laws workers and other people at our workplace must take reasonable care that they do not adversely affect
The objective of the hazard identification is to identify the presence of potential hazards that are posed during operation of the plant, then suggest corresponding control measures to reduce risk or mitigate impacts on work force. Main hazards that we take into consideration are chemical hazards, electrical hazards, vibration and noise related hazards. 6.2.1 Chemical hazards The chemical hazards are those posed by chemical components and products used in the process. The main hazards associated with the process are that of natural gas or carbon dioxide leakage, high temperature and pressure steam, and potassium carbonate.
In order to control the power an employer withholds, the government designed federal and local organizations similar to OSHA. The series of rules and regulations put in place by these organizations help businesses maintain safe working conditions and foster trust in employer-employee relationships. For those who don’t follow the rules and regulations placed, OSHA has the federal right to fine the business or shut it down. Usually, per OSHA’s standards, businesses should have a brief meeting describing the hazards that
Although tragic, this disaster served as a catalyst in the development of modern occupational health and safety regulations and fire prevention
There are many ways to prevent workplace head injuries. The employee must know their rights of the workplace. The worker must work on safe machines and wear safe personal protective equipment. The worker must also report all workplace injuries without being scared of retaliation. (Osha) OSHA is Occupational Safety and Health Administration and they create safe and healthful working conditions for men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education, and assistance.
[A HEAD] Health and safety legislation 1 [DF] The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 is known as an “umbrella act”. [PIC REF ATP.13] Whatever sort of business you are, there is always the possibility of an accident or damage to someone's health. All work exposes people to hazards, be they: loads which have to be manually handled; dangerous machinery; toxic substances; electricity; working with display screen equipment or even psychological hazards such as stress. Attention to health and safety is not just about being socially responsible.
Task 2 7 / C.P6: Compare the influence of different health and safety laws or policies on health and social care practice in a selected setting There are several different health and safety laws and policies that vary between settings in health and social care aimed towards different legislations that must be followed, and have resulted in improvements in health and social care practice. It is important that these legislations are followed by service providers in order for them to promote safe practice and to fully understand their responsibilities under these legislations. Some of the legislations include the Health and Safety at Work Act etc 1974, the Data Protection Act 1998, the Care Act 2014, the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Equality Act 2010.
Appropriate and safe working equipment ? A safe place to work ? Safe systems of work to help prevent ill health and accidents and policies and procedures ? A system to discuss matters of health and safety with employees. Other workers/colleagues
Employers must make the workplace/premises safe, this includes keeping all materials and machinery stored safely and when used with caution.
Assignment: Outline how legislation, policies and procedures relating to health, safety and security influence health and social care settings. Go on to describe how those legislation, policies and procedures promote the safety of individuals in your health or social care setting. Policies, procedures and legislation are found in every establishment. They are required to have them in place in order to protect and keep the employers, employees and service users safe. Legislations in an establishment are a groups of laws set by the government that must be followed otherwise an individual will be prosecuted.
Problem-oriented policing, also known as operational strategies, have five core elements: preventive patrol, routine incident response, emergency response, criminal investigation, and problem solving. In addition to the five core strategies, there is also a lone ancillary operation strategy, support services. Law enforcement officers use this to help prevent crime by being pro-active and responding to calls. The first of the core operational strategies is the prevention patrol. Prevention patrol is an active response and most dominate operation of police strategy.

Angela Jones 1.1- Describe factors to take into account when planning the areas safely: When planning a safe area for children it is important that factors are considered in order to make it a healthy and safe environment for all children and young people. It is important that all planning is related to the needs of each individual child or young person. Having a safe environment is important because it lowers the risk of any children or young people as well as adults from getting injured.
