Around the globe many books are banned from schools and libraries because of their content. Though many others disagree with the banning of books, because it takes away freedom of speech. Many books are banned and challenged because their content is considered inappropriate or offensive to the readers. But, others find that it goes against our First Amendment rights when they take away what someone else has written. Butler University also shows other reasons for why books are often times banned.
Many books are challenged and banned in schools because they contain inappropriate content or bad language; however, some people have a strong belief that these books are worth reading because they represent ideas of free speech and other important lessons that students will need throughout their lives On the pro side of the argument, there are many reasons why some people support banning books in schools. One thing that is stated in
Every book has a massage but some books have explicit content that parents feel are too much for their kids at such a young age. Schools still have a problem with banning books, some school strongly believe that keeping books that are not appropriate for kids to read off the shelves is the safest option. Still other schools think that banning books is simply not right and should not be done. It is still a well talked about topic. So should banning books be praised or
People in school such as teachers have noticed that many kids are unhappy because of dress codes and uniforms. Many kids have changed because of dress codes and because of wearing uniforms. In this, I feel like many kids are being changed by dress codes and uniforms. I think schools shouldn’t have to have a dress code and a uniform because dress codes and uniforms are a bad idea to have in schools. Many people find dress codes and uniforms offensive.
Censorship is a serious matter that has been discussed through the years. People are divided on whether censorship should be in school libraries or if it should not. Books such as “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”, “The Autobiography of Malcolm X" and many more have been greatly affected because of book banning. Not everyone has the same style, which causes outrage when certain books are banned. For example, if one book was banned and people prefered that book, it can make the community furious.
However, single sex education has been a point of contention for many people across the world. Single sex schools and classes have been an issue, as they are built upon promoting stereotypes based on the behavior of boys and girls and the way they learn. Organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union have opposed this form of
Censorship places limitations on the knowledge and creativity of citizens. It is evident that censorship is widely common in school. Some books are banned from school libraries due to content, while others are banned from being read in English classes. "Censorship is particularly harmful in the schools because it prevents students with inquiring minds from exploring the world, seeking truth and reason, and stretching their intellectual capacities, and becoming
Have you ever been required to read a book in school that did not conform with your standards, or have you ever checked out a book from the school library that contained explicit or inappropriate content? If so, you are not alone. Indeed, books in school libraries and in assigned novels seem to have become increasingly unmonitored. The books assigned in schools--especially high schools-- clearly goes against many students values, standards and ideals. Censorship, the restriction of media or content that is considered offensive or inappropriate, must be applied in this situation to ensure that children and teens are not exposed to, forced to, or allowed to read explicit content in our places of education.
Banning books will get students, schools, and libraries off the hook. Students can learn a lot of inappropriate stuff through certain books. Public libraries could get a lot of complains if they do not ban certain books from their library. Schools can get in deep trouble if they do not ban certain books from their school Banning certain books is good for multiple reasons. Certain books should be banned because they could be inappropriate for students.“Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy” (Orwell 53).
The topic is if schools should ban books, well I kind of get why teachers and professors would want to get rid of books but think about the students you're taking away good books from them. Sure there might be things that might not be as suitable for the kids, but sometimes they're going to have to run into bad things in the books. I ran into a book and my mom didn't want me to read it, I didn't, so basically what i'm trying to say is their parents should handle what they read. The books should have labels that tell you the level it is and what the book is about on the back. In this prompt i'm going to give you three reasons why teachers shouldn't ban books and why.
Some people do not like their label and hope that when they leave high school that their label will disappear, but then there are other people that do not want to leave their label behind. The kind of people that do not and to leave their label, are scared what the real world is going to label them, and this should not be an issue. People should not be scared of what the world is going to label them as, but more what they label themself as. In the end, One Tree Hill is a show that covers everything that could occur in high school, especially labeling. One Tree Hill goes on and talks about some of the characters issues with labeling and how it affected them.
These are just a few more negatives to this, but there are countless more. So in conclusion, there can be both positive and negative effects to this. If this would have happen I think it would be bad for the kids and also for the schools. If this would have happen there could be some positive effects as well. I feel that if the school board wanted to take away after school sports, I would have people join toghter so the school board would not be able to take away after school sports.
With this information provided in this article, they still think that the rules will not work for the students and some school system still wanted to know if the Common Core Standards will be used during the academic year. As of Mississippi’s education system, they are using the Common Core Standards, but the teachers, parents, and students are still upset about the standards they are using in the school system. Some education system has turned into a battlefield about the standards because they do not want to change their standards because students are still having a problem with the standardize tests. The school system using these standards will take out all of the fun in teaching and
Many struggling readers in middle school are disengaged from reading. In addition to low achievement, these students can have low motivation for reading. Many factors contribute to disengagement in middle school. Reading instruction is often disconnected from content, making reading tedious. Textbooks are formidable, and students are expected to respond to text with formal criticism or outlining rather than personal reactions.
That we should be able to follow a path and grow. Where knowledge is thrown upon us and we must make the sacrifice to become a “sage” and not only make sacrifices but to succeed in what we want. That we must want to learn from someone with higher education and more knowledge aka “the professor” because they have been down the path we are on now. So we can become successful and be able to answer to our self and Hsun Tzu believes. Between the other authors I do believe we have this “banking concept” educational system in our schools.
