Do you know what it’s like to want to start fresh? To pretend like what happened yesterday could be forgotten tomorrow? That is what the 11 million immigrants who currently live in America wanted, and what those who haven’t made it here yet only dream of. In order to give everyone the same opportunities to start a new life, we first need to be accepting of every person, documented or not. Undocumented residents should get a path to citizenship because families will be torn apart without it, because immigrants help improve the economy, and because this is a country of immigrants.
Immigration is defines as the action of leaving one's home country to start a new life in another country. Immigration has been a recent topic for politicians and the new president elect of the Donald trump. Undocumented immigrants serve as a problem to our nation's economy and well being both socially and economically.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of immigrants, from around the world come into the United States. These immigrants come to America for better life, some immigrants are refugees, escaping persecution and civil wars in their home country. Many immigrants believe that United States is the best place to go. I think allowing Immigrates to United States can benefit America because allowing Immigrates to come to America would have an increase on Economy and illegal immigrants already pay taxes and America is the country of immigrants.
There is an estimate of 8.7 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, according to the Center for immigration studies. They come here because they want a better life for their family, but their presence has caused many problems for the citizens of this country. Moreover, immigration has always been an important issue in the story of the United States. Many undocumented immigrants are able to enter the country illegally. These people along with other citizens say that undocumented immigrants are good for the country as they help the economy by working for a minimum wage in jobs that many refuse to do. According to the Pew Hispanic Center, undocumented take into account 5% of all workers in the United States. In fact, illegal immigrants help lower prices for people to buy more goods which make them suppose that they are an advantage for the country. Undoubtedly, companies that have undocumented workers can increase
Picture this: You came to the United States as a 2-year old undocumented immigrant. You can’t really say to your parents, “We shouldn’t go to the U.S. That’s illegal and I don’t want to get caught”. So you go to school in the United States, K-12, because the schools have to accept you. As you grow up, you live every day in fear of being deported. Under the Obama-administration, a new policy was created called DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), a program that allows undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. at the age of 16 or under, who are called the DREAMERS, to be shielded from deportation. Since DACA was created, 800,000 DREAMERS have been saved from being deported. Even though many Democrats are trying to fight it, President Donald Trump has announced the ending to the DACA program. DREAMERS who came to the United States as young children and are going to contribute to society should get to stay here. At young ages, the DREAMERS didn’t have any say in the decision to come to the United States or not. Many have never lived in their “home” country long enough to call it their own and they will actually contribute to the U.S. economy. Some say that these illegal immigrants steal jobs and spots at universities from legal Americans. But, they add to the economy with good jobs they could get and good education. The DREAMERS contribute to the workforce just like legal Americans. I think the DREAMERS should get to stay in the United States for many reasons. They
According to a study released last year by the Pew Hispanic Center, as of 2008, 11.9 million illegal immigrants lived in the United States, more than triple the 3.5 million who lived in the country in 1990 (Izumi). Immigration throughout the years has become a major issue in the U.S because of too many immigrants entering the country year after year. The U.S has come to a point whether they should deport the immigrants back to their country. Believe it or not, these immigrants are a big contribution to the U.S. If it wasn’t for them, the U.S economy wouldn’t be where it stands now. In recent discussions of whether immigrants should be deported, there has been sides where immigration would be good for our country and others disagree. Some believe that immigrants should be allowed to stay in our country, because they believe our economy wouldn’t be good without them and many businesses rely on immigrants working for them. On the other hand, the other side believe that immigrants are overpopulating the U.S and don’t have the money to support all of these immigrants (education/jobs.) Immigrants should be allowed to remain in the country because many families would be separated, they are already accustomed to the American society, and they contribute to the economy.
As a gateway to the United States, New York City has been defined by the generations of immigrants who have made it their home. According to the 2012 American Community Survey, more than 3.1 millions of people are immigrants. Immigrant entrepreneurs have made great impacts on transforming and enhancing the neighbors in New York City. Immigrants met hostilities when they first arrived to United States, they bound geographically, culturally, linguistically and economically. The formulation of Chinatown is an example, Chinese gathered together and did business. Picking up and moving to a country is brave and risky, immigrants had to venture out and find a way to make a living. One way is to start the business, in many cases, immigrants do well
Immigrants do not only help the economy by increasing the employment rate, they also increase taxpayers that benefits the US economy positively. There are a lot of misconceptions about undocumented immigrants and paying taxes. Many believe that since they are unauthorized immigrants they do not pay taxes. But in reality, many undocumented immigrants do pay taxes just like everyone else. They may not have a legal document that allows them to be in this country, but they find ways to pay for their taxes such as a Fake Social Security Numbers (SSN) or Individual Tax Identification numbers (ITIN) (Immigration and Taxation). Many undocumented immigrants are using false SSN because there are laws set such as Immigration Reform and Control Act, which forbids workers to work without an authorized document or an SSN. The only reason why they use False SSN is that there are laws that forbid them to work and contribute to the US economy. Consequently, this makes it harder for immigrants to not only get a job but it also restricts them from paying taxes. Some immigrants may also use ITINs, its purpose are only for tax filing only. ITINs does not guarantee any legal documents this is only for the ones who don’t have a Social Security Number. ITINs helps undocumented immigrants to file taxes (Immigration and Taxation 5). Through false SSN and ITIN, Undocumented immigrants are able to pay their taxes as well as receive their refunds. This also becomes a way for undocumented immigrants to
People leave their countries and come to the United States to become citizens and find work to make a life for themselves. Granting them citizenship and legal status helps avoid losing their homes and being forced to go back where they came from. Immigration is a natural right, and if people want to come to the U.S. and start a life here, give them the opportunity to do so. Treating immigrants unfair and calling them “Illegal aliens” is offensive, causing racism to stir up. They are human beings trying to find a line of work and make a living for themselves. The letting immigrants stay can bring benefits to the economy, influence good values, and motivate others to chase after the American Dream.
The United States today is credited with many different achievements, such as being one of the most successful countries in the world. Some of these accomplishments include conquering problems one by one with durable work ethic, and having a daring reputation of being righteously independent. But when one lifts up
There is an estimate of about 10 million illegal immigrants that are living in the United States. (Erin H. Fouberg, Human Geography) Even though they immigrated here to the US, they shouldn’t be considered as “illegals”. Immigration requires change and sacrifices for many people in order to stay in their homes. There is no wrong if you are considering to make a change in your life. In the book The Bean Trees, by Barbara Kingsolver, a young woman, named Taylor Greer, seeks a new change and home by moving to Arizona. Where she unexpectedly ends up caring for a young Indian girl nicknamed Turtle. Taylor reaches Arizona and makes a lot of new friends, even two Guatemalan immigrants, named Estevan and Esperanza. Since Taylor has Turtle and has a
The number of immigrants unlawfully in the U.S. has been steady at 11 million. Most of these immigrants aren’t allowed to attend university because of the issue that they aren’t legal U.S citizens. Everyone should have an opportunity on college access and better education. They should not be discriminated by others if all they want is a better life for their children , the parents come here so their children can have a better education. All immigrants are humans just like any other person in this world, they should not be treated less or have less opportunities just because they are illegal . The kids that are illegal should have access to college like every other person. Most of the immigrants ' families get separated because they don 't
Do you think that illegal immigrants should have a path to citizenship? I think that they should. They don 't harm the U.S they actually improve it. Nearly 14 million immigrants entered the United States from 2000 to 2010, and over one million persons were naturalized as U.S. citizens in 2008. There were 11.5 million unauthorized immigrants in the United States as of 2011. They come and have american families, they improve the economy, and this country is a country of immigrants so why not let them stay here.
An illegal immigrant, who works for their keep, pays taxes, doesn't get into trouble, and just wants a better life in a country, should be granted citizenship. An illegal immigrant is a person who migrates to a different country in a way that is in violation of the immigrant laws. Immigration has been a tough topic to bring up for many years in America. Illegal immigrants are seen as a bad thing for America, but some see them as an economic savior. There are over 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Many Americans have mixed views about citizenship for these people. Illegal immigrants should be granted citizenship based on how the person is doing. If they are causing trouble they don't need to be here. If they are working trying to get a check to provide for their family then why not keep them here. It could also help decrease the amount of debt America is in because of the increased tax returns.
The United States Government should not allow immigrants into the U.S., because it decreases American jobs. Legal and illegal immigrants force American citizens to compete with illegal immigrants for jobs. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, “There are about 11 million illegal immigrants in the country.” These immigrants get whatever jobs they can, putting less educated American citizens at a higher risk for not getting jobs. Some Americans believe that immigration is good because immigrants fill jobs that Americans do not want. However, immigration is not good because the illegal immigrants have broken the country’s laws of
