At this point, globally around 29 billion tonnes per year of greenhouse emission is being produced. This number will keep on increasing as the population increases and the energy usage increases. Climate Scientists and the leaders of our world have agreed that something must be done and emissions must be cut by at least 60%. This is a challenge that is a global emergency. The concerns about climate change have been growing and a need for a solution has become a necessity. Nuclear Energy’s contribution is greatly needed and it has to be step-upped. More Nuclear energy is needed to reduce the dependance on Fossil Fuels. This essay discusses some of the advantages and disadvantages of Nuclear Energy.

15% of the energy used worldwide is from Nuclear Energy. However in Europe around 25% is from Nuclear Energy and 80% of France’s electricity production is from Nuclear Energy. Nuclear power is generated using Uranium, a mineral of which one of the isotopes, U- 234 is unstable, which is used in such reactions. The nucleus breaks down resulting in the emission of heat and radiation followed by a chain reaction. This is called nuclear fission and this process gives out a large amount of energy. Nuclear Energy has many benefits and advantages
