Imagine the long-term savings realized by communities around the country, produced by cutting over inflated Planned Parenthood
For years republicans have been trying to defund Planned Parenthood, and at this moment in history, they are closer towards their goal than ever. With a republican majority senate, and a republican as president, the fight to defund Planned Parenthood only faces minimal resistance. Republicans, more specifically the Trump Administration, like to hide behind their religious beliefs and values when it comes to their ideas regarding Planned Parenthood. They tend to only focus aspects that they disagree with while paying no mind to the good that Planned Parenthood does. These republicans that are working to defund Planned Parenthood and oppose Planned Parenthood so strongly tend to only focus on the belief that defunding Planned Parenthood would
This is what brings up the main conflict between the two sides, as to whether or the not the program should receive funding from the government. The republican front runner Donald Trump, a self-described pro-life supporter was quoted saying that “it (Planned Parenthood) does do wonderful things but not as it relates to
In 1982 the state of Pennsylvania passed the Abortion Control Act which put new restrictions on getting an abortion. Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania filed a lawsuit against the state stating that the Abortion Control Acts went against the supremes court decision made in Roev. Wade case. Some laws from the Abortion Control Acts were found constitutional and passed as laws by the supreme court. Some laws that passes are states could not ban abortions before the "viability" point.
Lastly, the number of abortions would go up if Planned Parenthood were to be defunded. Planned Parenthood offers more than just abortions, whilst they are a very small part of what Planned Parenthood offers. 42% of what they offer is STI/STD testing and treatment, 34% is contraception, an 11% is other women’s health services, 9% being cancer screening and prevention, then abortion at a small 3% of what they offer, while 1% is other services. This
Planned Parenthood is a National issue fighting for abortion access, giving women facing an unintended pregnancy must have access to safe, legal abortion services. Birth control and the fact all people deserve access to birth control and other preventive care, health care equality and the idea all people should have equal access to reproductive health care. For years politicians in Congress and statehouses across the country have attacked Planned Parenthood’s patients’ access to care. But I believe Planned Parenthood’s health centers provide high quality, affordable reproductive health care, to 2.4 million people across the country. When politicians talk about defunding Planned Parenthood, they really mean depriving patients who depend on public
After hearing these facts’, you can better understand what Planned Parenthood is and that they contribute way more help to are society then just abortions, and by offering these health benefits we would keep cutting back the number of unplanned pregnancies and that would cut back the number of
Planned Parenthood is a topic that is continuously discussed in correlation with the concept of money as many believe that it “...emphasizes abortions instead of preventative care” (Attira). Because of birthrights, abortions, and the controversy that surrounds such issues, many individuals believe that the government should not be responsible for providing funding. Therefore, actually defunding Planned Parenthood is often brought up as a solution to the highly-debated consensus of government-funded healthcare services. Although many believe that creating a barrier between opinion and action is a positive push, actually defunding the program would be more catastrophic than perceived. Defunding Planned Parenthood would mean blocking and preventing individuals from receiving the health care that they are reliant on.
I asked Gina what the biggest reason was for wanting to get an abortion was and she replied, “I was very young and felt unprepared to bring another life into this world when I didn’t feel my life had even started. Plus, I was living with my parents and working two part-time jobs, as was my boyfriend. We just weren’t ready at all.” Much like Gina’s scenario, many young men and women cannot afford primary health care, especially prenatal and postnatal care, so they go to Planned Parenthood where they are provided with affordable reproductive opportunities. When I asked Gina how she was treated at Planned Parenthood, she said, “It was scary at first going in there because I didn’t know what I wanted yet or how much it would cost or anything.
Many of the opponents of Obamacare completely overlook how beneficial it is for women. Pre-existing conditions like C-sections, insurance plans with maternity services and the equality of insurance costs for men and women are all included in Obamacare. However, before Obamacare was executed, women’s costs for health insurance could be 1.5 times that of men, according to Wharton. Obamacare prohibited this immoral discrimination in 2014. If Obamacare were to be revoked, women would suffer much higher rates of insurance due to this unethical presumption that they are more “expensive”.
I first heard about Planned Parenthood while writing a research paper on abortion. My knowledge was also expanded at the peak of the Pro-Life movement. From unknown internet sources, I had heard that Planned Parenthood only performed abortions and was morally bad. However, when I extended my research, I found they did more than abortions, but instead had a major impact on affordable healthcare. According to Planned Parenthood’s annual report for 2018, they performed 4,712,985 STI testing and treatment, 741,352 HIV tests, 2,620,867 birth control information and services, 570,444 breast exams and pap tests, and 70,193 cancer detections (Planned Parenthood).
I still remember the first Time I stood before a Planned Parenthood clinic for a few hours to support the right to life. I personally have performed many protesting actions against abortion. I have picketed in front of Planned Parenthood.gone to pro-life masses. attended numerous right to life conferences, and other pro-life actions. I do these things to support my beliefs, and extend support to those who are confused and considering abortion.
Planned Parenthood is a program that has been helping people pay for essential procedures without a large fee. It should continue to be covered by the government because of the immense help it has offered people for years. As well as the cost is being funded by Title X which is helping other healthcare organizations across the United States. Planned Parenthood, as well as a negative misconception, is that they only help with abortions. Planned Parenthood helps with anything like educating people about their health.
1 out of 5 every 5 American women have visited a PPH at least once, Which is a big number of women if you think about it. Many will oppose me and bring up how we should defund planned parenthood because they still perform abortions which, in religious terms, is morally wrong. But defunding Planned Parenthood threatens millions of men and women's chances of any health care. It also won't stop abortions, it will encourage the practice of at-home abortions or them being performed by someone who isn't licensed. The money Planned Parenthood gets from the government doesn't even go towards abortions.
They think it is the invasion of the rights of women. This group wants abortion to remain legal and accessible as they think that everyone has a right to choose whether they want to keep the baby or kill
