When asked about the military Kaepernick said “They fight for freedom. They fight for the people, they fight for liberty and justice for everyone. And that’s not happening. People are dying in vain because this country isn’t holding their end of the bargain up, as far as giving freedom and justice, liberty to everybody.” The gift of freedom, liberty and justice for all was bought at the price of our soldiers’ lives; however, for some minorities these three cornerstones of rights are continuously taken away by corrupt police officers. In addition, after confronting and
All I’m trying to say is that this is our chance to free America from Britain. I wouldn’t care If i were on the verge of dying I will fight till my last breath and keep my heart towards the truth. We are an amazing country and we deserve to be free and that is why I am Reenlisting. Because this is my duty to protect our country from Britain’s unfair rule. The question “Would you Re- Enlist” is significant because it shows who will stand for America or back down.
We also have a right to say what we think the government should do for our nation. People like to use the first amendment to their advantage. They make fun of people and say it was their opinion or their “constitutional right”. People should not use the first amendment as an excuse for being rude to another human. When people are about to make fun of religions or looks they should stop, and think about how they would feel if a person said the same to them.
Her will would have been for her country to remain at peace and not enter war for several reasons. One, Davis’s and her classmates education was at stake, and she knew that education would lead to greater success later on in life. Secondly, because the propaganda surrounding them was misleading, and would benefit people outside of the United States, or just a select few inside the US who were pushing towards war for profit, not a defense of liberties. The main point of this letter was that there was support for the war, if there was a reason to fight for one, not just a petty land battle or a scheme for a few men to acquire riches on the backs of other men’s
The people fighting to be free were not allowing others to be free at the same time. You would hope they would feel the same pity for the slaves, as they know what it is like to not have the right to be free. The large focus point of the American Revolution is freedom and becoming independent. They wanted to break off from the British because they wanted to gain that freedom and not have to put up with the British for other various reasons anymore. It was one of their democratic ideals, and one of the very reasons that makes the world, mostly the
So why should I give up these rights that have been long fought for. We come from a diverse nation and we should be able to find other ways to fight terrorism other than sacrificing our liberties. Our civil liberties take precedence. The rights of the people in America should not be invaded upon because these rights are warranted. If our rights are invaded it not only oversteps the
This poster uses Ethos- to appeal to the American people. It is created based on the ethic that you do not want your country to loose the war, therefore you will not share any sensitive information. This make the person fell a duty, and responsibility to keep american citizens safe, and you as a citizen should appeal to the country 's need for a trust worthy citizen. Since an argument by definition is when some makes a statement on what they believe is right, I would have to think that this poster uses an argument to make its point across. Meaning that the government believes that the best way to win this war is to keep the American people from providing useful information to the enemy.
Martin Luther King Martin Luther King harped on civil disobedience for any moral arguments. Treating citizens differently based on skin color was nefarious, King wished to speak out to change but insisted on non-violent acts to do so. He expressed his thoughts in the “I Have a Dream” speech publically in a passive fashion. This passionate, positive and encouraging speech flourished King’s views and changed the American government’s unjust laws. Although, King did not use destructive force to get his point across, he did break some laws.
According to Martin Luther King’s speech, ‘I have Dream’ speech he says, “Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.” While Malcolm X says, ‘ I’m nonviolent with those who are nonviolent with me. But when you drop that violence on me, then you’ve made me go insane, and I’m not responsible for what i do.” This shows that Martin Luther King shouldn’t be the leader because get beat up and not defend ourselves using violence, but sometime some guys need the sense to be beaten into their brain and body to realize. Malcolm x wants us to defend ourselves while the oppressor is attacking and that’s why he should be leader because I am not gonna stand there and deliver a speech to you while you are abusing my family and neither am I going to run away like a coward. If the enemy isn’t to realize by my words then thee is going to realize by pain.
I agree with the part about the money should be spent on domestic problems and not war, because the country should be the focus and the country should help the poor. America would not give funds up to support the poor, because of the war that was going on. I believe that they should have gave some funds to the poor to help them in troubling times. I also did not understand why blacks and white were still separated, but they would kill and die together in war. It is not right to separated humans.
In an interview, he states, “Last I heard, we had a Constitution in this country which gave all of our people the right of religious freedom…” (“Sanders: Turning Our Backs on Refugees Destroys the Idea of America”). He believes that turning our back on the Muslim refugees who are trying to escape violence and persecution destroys the idea of America. Our country is supposed to be a welcoming place and to stand for equality for all, but denying the right of people trying to live a better life undermines America as a
Without the Mayflower Compact, the American people might still be governed by England. Similarly, the journey of the pilgrims to find religious and moral freedom has become a symbolic pillar of our nation 's values. When the pilgrims came to America, they were searching for one thing in particular. Their religious freedom, and they were willing to fight tooth and nail for it. Today, freedom is the cornerstone of what it means to be an American.
He wanted to urge Americans to continue to respond not with the hatred as the killer did, but with generosity. He wanted to remove the symbol associated with violent acts. With this said, Obama’s main purpose of giving this eulogy was to pay tribute to the victims, make a call to action for continued racial progress, and unite a community after a hate crime. President Obama
The actual definition of American is relating to, or characteristic of the United States or its inhabitants. Being proud of who you are and the place you live. Americans have defined themselves not by their racial, religious, and ethnic identity but by their common values and belief in individual freedom. An American says the Pledge of Allegiance and understands that voting is important to Democracy, individually Americans value freedom and are proud citizens, and the freedom of human right. In the article Veterans Day: Never Forget Their Duty by Senator John McCain “He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better.
Jeb Bush looks at it as “Yes, they broke the law, but it’s not a felony; it’s an act of love,” he said. “It’s a different kind of crime. There should be a price paid. It shouldn’t rile people up that people are actually coming to provide for their families.” But he also believes that the government should create better ways to keep immigrants out and have a system of patrolling our country. another issue Jeb Bush has to face is civil rights, Abortion is a problem that he tackles with in his political career as well as the LGBT community.
