Persuasive Argument National Athletes are/are not Paid Too Much The topic, pro athletes are/are not getting paid too much, is a heated argument between people. Have you ever thought about it? Well, an answer that I’m sure would be agreed with is that national athletes are paid way too much money. Some people might say that they deserve what they get, but there really isn’t any supportive reasons for that.
In Mark Singletary article he states that he is going to give a “more power to ’em position” he means that he is going to support the fact that pro athletes get their fair share when it comes to getting paid. He supports this by saying that the athletes deserve what the fans are willing to pay and how much sponsors pay them also. The final reason that I will state on why Singletary does not think athletes are not overpaid is that they are putting their careers on the line in every game they play. the players could get a concussion, broken bones or even paralyzed.
Can you imagine making $88 million a year? The three-time FIFA player of the year, Cristiano Ronaldo, was the highest paid pro athlete in 2016. Many professional athletes get paid millions of dollars, and some people think that these athletes get paid too much, but others believe that athletes deserve the deluge of money they receive. I believe athletes get paid way too much, but they should make a great deal of money, just not as much. The whole system that allows professional athletes to just swim around in money is simply ridiculous, and it needs to stop.
I can admit that they might get paid a little too much but it is because they risk their lives for our entertainment of others and they risk their injury. It is very important because there was a player who shattered their bones and their whole face. You may think now that it might be a good idea to get paid more money because of the way they risk their whole life playing sports
People don’t think long term when they get injured especially athletes they think get me healthy and get me back out there not how is this going to affect me when I’m retired. Not very many athletes think for themselves they let their coach, manager or trainer do the thinking. Prevention of all serious concussions is unrealistic particularly in contact sports, After you go a concussion you are 3 times more
Although college athletes may be on a scholarship that is paying for their education, they also work countless hours on their craft and make millions for their
Mick Johnson did not only ruin his career, but a good life and a lot of friends. Mick Johnson was not happy with who he was. He wanted to be like the rest of the one in a few hundred thousand athletes that would go to the pros. You need be happy with who you are. It makes you unique.
Many of the connotations evolve around the use of Drugs and creating a “false” name in the industry. Many people around the world looked up to Lance Armstrong as a role model, in 2013 he admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs. Lance used drugs to become better in his sport, thus making a higher income and becoming a world-renowned athlete. He lets down millions of people around the world, and he made money of this, leading to him not having a good responsibility of his power. These
So many people would say why bother to argue this topic? Because there are several reasons that need to be considered. College athletes should get paid because they risk a lot. They risk the rest of their lives to entertain and make it a living, but they can get hurt at any time. It could be an injury that could ruin the rest of their lives.
The most common and typical American Dream is the dream of being super successful and wealthy. It’s been a common belief for many years that when you come to America you can get rich very easily and do anything you want. Even though most people have a lot better opportunities in America then their home countries, getting rich and famous is still pretty challenging for most people. Their are a few people that actually became rich and famous from coming to America, but its very few compared to those who don’t become rich and famous. Most people who come to the U.S. do not become rich but they do become more wealthy then they were in their home countries because of how poor some of the other countries are compared to America.
Some college athletes are just as well known as pro players which is one of the arguments for why they should be paid. Although some athletes are very well known the purpose of college is to a student first. Which is why the top tier players can wait for professional sports to be paid, and while in college they can students. Another argument for why athletes should be paid is because there is already lots of under the table deals that take place with college athletes. Under the table deals will only hurt the athlete in the long run.
This isn’t just about a football team getting paid or a basketball team getting paid. If only one of these teams are getting paid or even both. Many people in other sports will be aggravated because most athletes believe that they are just as athletic and should be paid if the others are. This is where college would struggle paying all the athletes because track teams do not bring in nearly the same amount of money as a football team does. Also one of the most important and greatest parts about participating and becoming an athlete at a university with a scholarship is that most of the time athletes graduate without the stress of having loans because the school paid for most of them.
Therefore, I came to realize that there are two different types of success: extrinsic and intrinsic. However, most people get confused and look towards extrinsic success, which is money, fame, and recognition from others, even though they should look towards intrinsic success, such as true happiness and passions. But in order to switch from external to internal goals one has
There are many fans of collegiate level sports since they believe that players at this level play with more passion than an athlete at the professional level (Patterson). Some professional athletes don’t feel the need to work hard considering they have already made it to the highest level (Patterson). Unlike some professionals, collegiate athletes are so motivated to make it to that next level that they make the best of every opportunity given to them (Patterson). Awarding collegiate athletes a salary will make them feel as if they’re already at the highest level of sports. Given that the average age of collegiate athletes is around 19 years old means that they are not fully matured.
When the NCAA is throwing that much money at coaches, would it not be okay if the player got a couple thousands of
