Pros And Cons Of School Suspension

Should schools continue to use the traditional form of punishment of suspending students? Is suspension a benefit or a disadvantage to a students learning? Is suspension the right thing to do for all students? For many years suspension has been a common punishment for bad behavior in school, though many people are starting to wonder whether suspending a student really helps them learn and grow or does it harm their learning career. This is a big debate that has just recently come into light.

One of the members decided to beat up Peter, Cole did not take this lightly and punches him in return. Unluckily a teacher sees Cole and sends them all to the principal’s office. What solutions can be created to end bullying?” Bullying has become an increasing problem in schools around the world and not much is being done to stop bullies from victimizing others or victimizing themselves. Many have tried anonymous bully forms, talking to an adult, confronting the bully, taking disciplinary actions, or simply “duking it out”.

Personal attack shows an attack on the character of a person rather than his or her opinions or arguments. Ms. Campbell is the head of a department who also a teacher. She was totally looked down on the student in class 203 because many of them are on probation, can’t be relied on and are the lost cause’s. For example, when Mrs. Gruwell finds out a new book to let the student read but Ms. Campbell is not giving it to the student. Ms. Campbell thinks that the student reading scores are not so good and believe the book will be damaged by them.

At Ballou Senior High, a crime-infested school in Washington, D.C., honor students have learned to keep their heads down.   Among the mere handful of students with a B average or better, some plead to have their names left off the "Wall of Honor" bulletin board; others hide during awards ceremonies; only a few dare to raise their hands in class.   Like most inner-city kids, they know that any special attention in a place this dangerous can make you a target of violence.

Passion & Aggression Ender once said, “To learn how to truly fight in war, I must show passion and aggression.” During the story of the Ender’s Game, Ender feels like he’s stuck in between love and war. As the story of Ender’s journey goes on, he’s known to fight with so much aggression which makes him feel bad because he makes people not want to ever fight him again. In several parts of the story, Ender feels terrible after showing his aggression to someone because of his passionate side.

1a.   Explain why, according to Lavoie, sarcasm is not an effective tool for teachers.   Sarcasm is not an effective tool because it creates a victim. What may seem like a small sarcastic remark to the teacher and other classmates is a much bigger deal to the child it was directed at. The teacher and other students will laugh and forget about the remark within a few minutes but it will stick with the learning disabled student for quite possibly the whole day.

Lastly, they deal with kids all day. In the classes that i have there are many kids that stand out for being very disruptive. Those students can slow the class down, and worse, stress out the teacher. I have witnessed many times where kids think it is okay to slow the class down because they don 't care. These are some of the kids that make the teacher think, “Why am I still here?”

I was miserable. The whole day that was all that I could think about. I could never get out of my head and it would distract me from doing my work in some classes that I had with him. He would throw paper balls at me in the class when the teacher turned her back. He would sometimes trip me when I went to sharpen my pencil.

These were just extra obstacles that were put in my way for reason to benefit at all, considering I was told that junior year was already the hardest year for any high schooler anyway. I was furious yet frightened to see the thing that I value and work for, to be turned against me and everyone else. Across many schools within Jeffco, students all together performed a walk out during school to protest this issue to point. But this walk out was only the beginning of the Jeffco Recall that many teachers, parents, and students supported and carried out throughout the year. And while we did have to compensate for their poor decisionmaking that year, the recall was eventually set forth and finalized at the beginning of my senior year.

While this novel does have profanity and sexual references, it still deserves to be taught in high school because Holden shows how having a negative attitude towards life does not get a person far. In the beginning of the novel Holden tells the reader that "[Pencey] kick[s] [him] out [of their school]" (6) because he "was [failing] four subjects and not applying [himself]" (6). However, he does not just notify the reader, he notifies them in a way of forgetting to mention that he is no longer going to be attending Pencey. Holden passes this off as some minor detail when in reality it is not just a minor detail. Later on, Holden reveals to the reader that this is not the first school where he has gotten expelled.

In the novel, Dr. Rios describes a concept He calls “dummy smart”. During his study he noted that there were multiple youth who were doing very well in school, but were labeled as being deviant and dumb by school officials. They purposely acted as if they were uninterested in school, but when called upon they always knew the answer, which shows they are more willing to gain respect from people of higher authority in a more negative way. As the novel progresses Dr. Rios goes on to explain how some of the youth wanted to change, but felt

If a teacher feels that a student is blocking a hallway, then he or she may aim, and fire away. As a result, students will be discouraged from stand stationary as it will be necessary for those offending students to bring extra clothes if they persist on being unmindful of other and creating massive traffic jams. Lastly, if all the other parts of my solution fail then we have no choice but to give the offenders a taste of their unacceptable behavior. Students who feel that they are being robbed of their time during passing periods will hold a day in which they will bring their friend and stand motionless at the busiest hallways of Las Cruces High School during passing periods and at the end of the school day.
