In the American Revolution, there were two sides, the American Patriots who were willing to die for freedom, and the British Loyalists who were willing to die for their King. The main cause that the American Patriots wanted to separate from the British was because they were tired from the cruel and unfair ruling given by the British. They said the British were being cruel and unfair, for example, taxation without representation. Along with this reason, there are many more factors that led the American Patriots to leave Britain.
(The Sons of Liberty were a gang of the patriotic colonists). Seeing that the colonists weren’t glad and opposing the Tea Act. Colonist actions made the parliament angry and disrespected. The royal parliament decided to take a serious step ahead and enforced them the intolerable act. The Intolerable Acts as you know were in response to the Boston Tea Party.
Patrick Henry did this to achieve his goal of motivating the people to revolt rather than to sit and listen to the British laws. This sentence was placed last in the speech because of the emotional power it had. Also, most people remember the last lines of a speech, and as a result of this line, the audience was angered and had a strong need to revolt, which therefore achieved Henry’s purpose of getting the people to revolt. In conclusion, repetition, emotional appeals, and allusions were ways Henry described his message.
Creoles and poorer classes began to get frustrated with the restrictions that the government had created on the economy. Merchants were forced to sell “products at artificially low prices and buy...at artificially high prices”. (Doc C)Latin Americans were also stripped of basic trading and property rights. When this started to occur, the Creoles began to try to convince the people of America that by gaining independence, they could be ruled by a class that was born in their country. This was one of the main reasons why the Creoles began to help lead the fight for independence.
The Quartering Acts was that the king forced the colonists to take the British troops into their homes. The colonists were aggravated by this law. They were being underprivileged of the British rights they had possessed. The people had to expose their children to the British soldiers who were disliked by any of the colonies. They were being shoved into their homes against their will; the people were infuriated with a good reason.
The Sugar Act, also known as the American Revenue Act or the American Duties Act, was one of the laws that led to anger, dislike, disagreement, and eventually revolution in Colonial America. Another effect was an increase in smuggling and crime in the colonies. The colonists did not want to pay the outrageous taxes so they looked for ways not to have to pay. A third effect was the colonists decided to stop buying luxury products from Great Britain and looked to local manufacturers for their products. They did this to avoid paying the high
All their freedom they previously had was being reduced. They had to pay several taxes on things such as stamps and sugar. The Navigation Act forced the colonies to only trade with England, which prevented the smuggling. Many of the colonies became bitter about the price and in some cases England would lower the taxes. The colonies often threw a fit and revolted.
I feel that the way patriots treated the loyalists was cruel and unjust. In the beginning of the Americas, everyone living there followed the king and what he had to say and what he did. They were all British and proud of that. So even if some things went bad and not everybody agreed, the loyalists were still proud to be British, which isn’t a bad thing. The thing that is bad about this is how the people who were no longer wanting to be British treated the people who did.
The colonists did like the idea of their trade and basically there main way of income to be control. So they started to push back and go against the British. The British didn’t like the idea of their new world pushing back. So they started to make new laws and acts to try and push them back and suppress the colonists.
The Parliament passes the Tea Act in 1773. From then on the course of history will have many more down hills throughout the years. Some background information is that the colonist were mad at the government and at england because they were putting taxes on the people out there conscient the colonist didn’t want anything to do with England so they boycott the shipping orders coming in and had The Daughters of Liberty make clothing for them. The Tea Act cause the colonists to be mad at England and ultimately lead to their showing of anger in the Boston Tea party, both events impacted the American Revolution.
This is another reason why the colonists needed to break away from, to be able to trade with everyone all around the world. Overall the colonists broke free from England due to many reasons. The British acts violated many of the colonist’s rights. Also the British cut off trade for the colonist.
The colonies were tired of too much taxation. They were tired of getting bossed around and paying too much just for a cup of tea. They finally decided to venture to the “new world” and fought for their freedom. The colonies said they would be an independent and self governed colony, not tax their colonists too much and be free finally from
The three primary types of colonists who came to the New World were the adventurers, missionaries, and the colonists. They came for two primary reasons: financial and missionary. Christopher Columbus was attempting to find a financial route to Asia when he finally landed in America. Missionaries aimed at spreading Christianity to the American Indians. Historians have referred to this as a quest for God and gold.
