Rikki-tikki-tavi: The Right to be Proud In the story of Rikki-tikki-tavi by Rudyard Kipling, the horrific fight to the death between a young mongoose, and a deadly gargantuan black snake with a mark on his back to prove that he was a king cobra was drawn-out, and took a long time to finish. So when the young mongoose, by the name of Rikki-tikki-tavi, killed the king cobra. He should have the right to be proud of himself. Afterall, he did kill the king of the garden, who everyone was terrified of. Rikki-tikki-tavi deserves the right to be proud for saving the garden of the most dreaded King cobra, Nag. A mongoose and a cobra aren’t known for being friends, actually, they are quite the opposite. Rikki-tikki proved that he had what it took, he killed Nag by himself so that everyone else around him will be safe. Rikki-tikki fought and won his first fight through bravery. On page 22, it says “and once I’m there, I must not let go. Then he jumped.” To jump onto a cobras back and not to let go shows how brave he is to do that for the people that he loves.
So when Rikki-tikki killed the king cobra, he should have the right to be proud of himself. When Rikki-tikki was fighting the cobra, not only was he brave, but he was also determined. In the book on page 22, it said “ and once I am there, I must not let go.” Rikki-tikki was determined to kill Nag so that his family and all of the innocent creatures will no longer be in harm’s way. So, in the end, Rikki should be proud that he worked so hard to make sure that the people that he loved were safe from the disastrous
