The K+12 curiculum and its implementation is of great necessity in the country. It is a fact that education plays an important role not just for every individual but also for the society. Its importance is undeniably integral and comprehensible making society and knowledge two inseparable entities. Particularly, science education is not to be taken lightly by all learning institutions. Science and technology’s improvement and advancements could not have been made possible without science education itself. One of the evaluation reports of the Department of Education entitled “The K to 12 Basic Education Program” enumerates the improved features in the K+12 curriculum prospecting to positive impacts and advantages. Considering early childhood education as an integral part of student’s development is one. Students can go to school for as early as 5 years old (University Kindergarten) preparing them for formal education by all means. Human brains grow 60-70 percent of adult size at early childhood, ages 0-6, making it the most effective stage to develop students holistically. It is where the basis or foundation of the students’ life-long learnings and understandings are laid. As reported by Konnikova (2013), Hilary Levey Friedman had said, “Early investment of time and skill development(Underscoring added) appears to have a more lasting impact.” K+12 thus makes a robust early childhood education developing and preparing students. Second is the introduction of concepts and ideas and application to common and day-to-day to lives in order for students to have a more understandable and relatable perception. Students are also provided with discussions on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) thus making them relevant learners themselves. The implementation of this curriculum is anticipated by the government to bring about improvement in the educational and national issues in relation to the quality of education. The K to 12 curriculum settles the congested approach of the ten year program. This 12-year curriculum is presented with an equalized appeal as compared to the previous one making students obtain and master knowledge and skills more efficiently. It offers more time for students for acquiring better competency and ascertains close monitoring of teachers in the development of each student.
