Another research indicates that students miss out on developing important life skills and their social life suffers as they don’t find time to pursue hobbies they enjoy, for outdoor activities or to even meet friends or family.” (Does Homework Cause Stress in Children?). Stress is terrible, too much homework causes stress, and less homework equals very less stress. Stress is no good because the only way to stop it is to do to the source of it, aka the palls of HOMEWORK that teachers FORCED upon STUDENTS, NEEDS TO
Homework helpful or harmful Is Homework Helpful or Harmful? This question that many parents and students ask themselves every day. Many students complain about the amount of homework that is given to them.1 As many children as eleven-year-old Stevie Naeyaert in the research done by Alexa Stevenson, children suggest they don’t have enough socialization time. Have you ever been frustrated with homework, and not having enough socialization time? Many students believe too much homework blocks their social life.2
Everyone knows the phrase, “kick them while they are down.” Well, that’s exactly what homework does. After an exhausting day of school, hard-working students feel very tired when they arrive home. However, homework prevents students from getting their much needed rest and makes them feel even more weary. Yes, a few studies have shown that homework has led to a slight increase in grades.
This proves that homework is not an effective learning strategy, and it actually teaches negative habits. Homework supporters believe that more homework translates to smarter students. Many studies have proven that dropping homework has positive effects on students in their school. Nancy Kalish’s article describes one school that put homework to the test,
For many students, homework is a chore--mandatory, useless, painful. In addition to already-long school days, many more hours are spent by students at home, working on numerous, often unimportant, assignments. Students, already overworked, are given further stress; stress that leads to severe physical and mental consequences. Due to its length, inaccurate representation of student knowledge, insignificant impact on academics, elimination of free time, and damage on the physical and mental health of students, homework does not benefit students.
Unhealthy problems is an effect of kids doing too much homework for too long, students have to complete all of their homework in just a limited amount of time, and less time for family and extracurricular activities and family and friends is created because of homework. If homework continues to increase through the years, students will go through a midlife crisis! They will not be able to handle all of the pressure and who knows what the students will do with all of this homework on their backs. Remember back to Michael. He was stressed out from all of the homework he had received from school, though, he went to school excited.
There are 24 hours in a day, 8 of those hours belong to school. From the moment when a student wakes up, they begin to prepare for school then go to school, most schools start around 8:00-9:00 am, so most students get up 1-2 hours earlier to get ready. Students need at least 8-9 hours of sleep to be able to function. With students having after school activities that take up around 2 hours, students are exhausted and when they get home all the want to do is relax, but some of them have responsibilities that they have to do, which gives them less time to relax from a long day of school. On top of having homework students end up staying up late getting all their work done, which cause them to be less focus the next day not allowing the
Imagine you aren’t doing so well in school because of constantly being loaded down with tons of homework. You are just praying to God that you will pass the 8th grade. Homework should be eliminated and become an unnecessary thing of the past. Some people may say that homework is great practice, but when is it too much to handle? Unfortunately, too much homework can lead to mental disorders.

For this debate I am debating why school time should stay the same. J.C.M.S middle school in Sierra Vista has a delayed start time of 9:00 a.m., and finish school at 4:00 p.m. This affects the children who are involved if afternoon sports, most time not getting out until 6:00 p.m sometimes later. If you have homework that same night after spending two hours doing a sport you might procrastinate and not do your homework at all or you will be tired and end up making mistakes that should not have been made. An earlier start time ensures an earlier release time letting sports start earlier and homework being done at an earlier time while not as exhausted from the day.
This is a concern that bothers some parents and even educators.” With all these other activities from school, both academic and extracurricular, students, specifically the younger ones, are already tired when they get home. Having to solve difficult math problems, mesmerizing long lines or read several chapters can be tiresome for them. Not only will they end up staying up late but they might not be
