Many of the immigrants that come to America are from Mexico and other countries in South America but, there is some that come from allies such as North Korea. If the North Korea government could construct a plan to make an attack and we did not know, they could easily get into the U.S if we were to open ourselves to the world. Other people also agree such as the quote, “the forces of economic change have left millions of Americans struggling to keep up. ”(Option 4). This quote supports the idea because it is saying that if we let even more people in more Americans will be losing jobs and our society will go down.
When I was 10 years old I looked up communism, and it meant ‘a society where property was public, and everyone would be helped according to needs.’ This confused me because I had always heard of communism in a negative context. Such a society would mean that, everyone would have food, water, shelter, an education and job. This is the ideal society. So why was it talked about with disgust and horror?
With the failure of capitalism, the communist parties (the Social Democratic Party and the Communist Party) began to grow. They greatly appealed the lower class, who wanted a socialist state where there were no classes and everyone was idealistically equal. People also saw that the effect of the Great Depression was basically nonexistent in the Soviet Union which was governed under a Communist Party. These two parties combined would have a larger supporters than the Nazis, due to the large majority of the lower working class, however they were rivals to each other. The Nazi party, which was also a rapidly growing party, appealed to many of the public as people began to have a better image of Hitler and his party.
We all know that this is practically impossible given the current regime. However, I do believe that the rest of the world can do much more to help with human trafficking as a result of North Korean’s Dictatorship, such as offering formal shelters for those crossing the border. As to the right to freedom of movement, it requires policy changes within the state. The truth is that the North Korean government has been violating human rights for decades. Actions were taken to change this cruel reality.
First, America annexes Hawaii. They did this so they could build good naval bases and they wanted to protect the sugar planters in that area. An added bonus was that America got a stop in the journey across the pacific. Next they bought Alaska from Russia because they wanted to stop the expansion of trade and Alaska’s land was also rich in natural resources. America also took over Japan and China.
Many Americans post-world war II were afraid of the spread of communism because of their belief in the domino theory, if one country falls then the rest will too. Under external and internal pressures such as the failure of the Potsdam conference Harry Truman adopted a foreign policy during the early years of the cold war ( the late 40’s) called containment. The objective was to stop the spread of communism around the world by creating military alliances such as NATO ,and providing aid to unstable/weak countries through the Marshall Plan. Unfortunately, like many other U.S foreign policies it was effective at times, but also dreadfully ineffective. In order to combat the continuous spread of communism, Truman passed the Truman doctrine, which allowed for foreign intervention in countries affected by Communism.
because they both at first did not see industrialization as a threat to the economy, but as time passed and innovation and demand increased, they both saw the corruption and issues that must be resolved in order to achieve a stable economy. They both depended on some sort of organization that needed to possess the support of a political leader or reforms that can be the change they both so desperately desire. The farmers wanted someone to speak out for them as they were continually being ignored this was similar response and feelings the industrial workers felt toward the way United States stood at the time. The both sought to destroy monopolies and their corruptive, abusive ways, they fought for the justice that they deemed needed to be served. This era has been a way for the progressive era to finally make those changes, the Gilded Age was set up for what was yet to come to life.
DACA has gave many opportunities to many dreamers in the world and taking that back when every congress feels the need to do so is not okay for the lives of these people. DACA and dreamers have shown to be loyal and good to this country despite the hate and mistreatment the DACA controversy has created and boosted the economy due to hard work. Republicans hate and lack of ability to work with the rest of congress only shows that DACA is just a meaningless immigration act. DACA has been used as a scapegoat to blame for social problems like "chain-migration" which is also a socially constructed concept created by Americans, for them to believe it is okay to forcefully and cruelly getting rid of dreamers. DACA is a positive and economy booster to America therefor it should stay to continue to allow dreamers to open opportunities for
During the 1980’s to 1990’s, a time of change came about East Germany, as in the collapse of the Soviet Union as well as the fall of the Berlin Wall. A few decades of poor decisions and corruption had created an unsustainable system that would consequently lead to the collapse of the nation and no doubt the wall that divided it. Reforms that failed, political parties losing favor as well as vision, conflicts with other nations, and the nation’s poor economy were factors that were the cause of the collapse of East Germany. Mikhail Gorbachev came to power in 1985 with a vision to reform East Germany.
Through the folds of history, the phrase “the end justifies the means” has appeared often in an attempt for leaders to degrade their terrible acts and exaggerate their achievements that resulted. In the late 1800s, during the repressive and absolute rule of Stalin, many Russian citizens argued however, that Stalin did not justify his end with his means. The death of tens of thousands of Russian citizens from both execution and starvation, which were a direct result from his goals of a perfect communist utopian society, is not an act that can be ignored when considering his ultimately ‘good’ goals of pulling Russia out of poverty and stagnant economic and political growth. Joseph Stalin was able to greatly boost the Soviet Unions economy by instituting the 5-year plans with a resulting goal of rapid industrialization, and by instituting collectivization. Joseph Stalin ruled with an iron fist.
The cold war was fueled by ignorance. It seems extremely irrational that these two superpowers went to war over political beliefs seeing that currently full communism is a failure and capitalism is embracing certain communist beliefs. Communism was not a very bad idea as it promoted equality. Nonetheless, how communism
The mid and late 1900’s is characterized by the seemingly endless struggle of ideologies between the Soviet Union and their spread of communism and the United States and their idea of democracy. The spread of communism reached Poland, where Lech Walesa is from. Communism often takes the people 's rights which is unfair and an individual is bound to speak out in order for change to occur for the best interest of the people. Walesa stood up for the working people and ensured that Poland wouldn’t become oppressive like the Soviet Union. He is a notable and prominent figure in Poland which should be recognized for his accomplishments.
Bernie Sanders believes that immigrants play a central role in the American economy and in American citizens’ everyday lives. However, he feels that undocumented workers are abused by some politicians for political gain and put in the dark. The only way to end this disgraceful situation and fix the enormous problem we face as a country, in Sanders opinion, is to end the division and become united. The Fair and Humane Immigration Policy will unite all peoples living in America, legal and illegal, consequently, binding the division in our country.
Consequently, many rich Americans believed in this view, and used it as an explanation of why some are poor and some are rich. Additionally, a similar view is expressed in Progress & Poverty, written by J.M Dent. (Doc. 11). In Progress & Poverty, Dent explains that an uneven distribution of wealth will aid social progress, because it will drive people to work harder, which in almost all cases, never worked, and only caused social unrest and strikes. Conversely, some politicians fought for workers’ rights and developed legislation in response.
Imagine if you lived in a place where you had no freedom, and you were ruled by a man like Joseph Stalin. That is what it would be like in many countries if it weren’t for the United States’ policy of containment. During the Cold War, the Soviet Union wanted to take over other countries and make them have the government system of Communism. The United States didn’t like that, because they thought their governmental system of Democracy was better. As a result, the U.S. adopted a policy of “Containment”.
