How has this module inspired you?
This program has motivated me to reconsider the importance of providing clear and specific guidance in my teaching techniques. It has demonstrated the enormous influence that well-crafted directions can have on student learning, conduct, and equality in the classroom.
What will you do differently in your classroom? What is your next action step?
In my classroom, I will focus more on giving clear and detailed instructions for various chores and learning activities. To ensure that students grasp the goal and process of each assignment, I will incorporate the fundamental components of WHAT, HOW, and WHY in my instructions. In addition, I will use modeling techniques and signals to improve students' comprehension and
Because of the diversity that exists among our student population, it is important to offer an education that meets those diverse needs. This includes fostering an appreciation for the unique qualities students bring to the school community. Through working collaboratively in the classroom, students grow both academically and emotionally as they achieve project goals. In order to meet student needs, teachers must be prepared with the latest in professional development strategies to differentiate instruction among all learners. It is the responsibility of the district to provide comprehensive professional development and resources equitably to the teaching
A classroom should be filled with a wide variety of languages, experiences, and cultural diversity. An effective teacher understands the importance of culturally responsive teaching, and recognizes the significance of including students ' cultural references in all aspects of learning. Having an enriching classroom that engages all students does not mean making judgments about a student’s culture based on their skin color, gender, or socioeconomic status, rather it means knowing each student in a way that is individualized. According to the authors of The First Day of School: How to be an Effective Teacher Harry Wong, race, gender, religion, financial statue, and skin color is the least important factor determining a student’s achievement. Moreover, demographics and culture are not an excuse for students’ lack of achievement.
Artifact and Description for S1 edit title Edit I have attached my “Long-Range Plan” as a demonstration of my ability to exhibit biblical principles. This artifact demonstrates my understanding of exhibiting biblical principles because it includes different learning strategies, assessment techniques, and accommodations that could be used to reach a variety of learners within the individual classroom setting. This particular skills outcome is important in early childhood education because my personal and professional behavior can impact the young students view of education for years to come. By exhibiting biblical principles, I can build positive relationships, show care towards others, and practice equality and fairness in my teaching.
The first two chapters of this book deal with the mindset that we as teachers must have in incorporating the framework and pedagogy into our classrooms. In becoming a culturally responsive teacher you must look at validation, affirmation, building, and bridging. In validation, we have a responsibility to our students to legitimize their culture and language. In being a teacher, rapport I with your students is critical in your success for reaching your students.
Professional Impact Paper In reflecting upon this year and a half, I have received a very impactful experience for my career as an educator. As stated by Mpisi et al. (2020), a necessary condition for effective class facilitation is the self-improvement of teachers. Many of my goals have been achieved, and I have been given the tools to go even further in my career.
As a future teacher, I will strive to resemble culturally responsive teaching by seeking to understand the student's perspective further. Understanding the student’s perspective will create an educational environment that represents all people, honor individual diversity, and affirm unity among all members if the educational community (8a.0). As I begin to learn about ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic groups through different learning experiences, I realize how to pursue positive interactions with students of other backgrounds (8a.1). With this knowledge, I can analyze and adjust the curriculum to meet all groups of diversity in the classroom (8a.2).
I will actively challenge my students in content and provide them with resources specific to their educational needs. Middle grades instruction is of particular
Throughout, the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege to teach diverse groups of students. As a result, I have become proficient at designing creative and stimulating lesson plans, which accommodates the needs
I also address Pluralism 3 (Students implement a range of instructional approaches and strategies that are needed to educate diverse learners in a variety of contexts) by using multiple strategies, such as leveled readings, strategic instructional groupings, and the written conversation approach to teach this
If a classroom is unstructured, does not follow a schedule or has a strong classroom management plan we will not be able to assist our students in reaching their full potential. Relating behavior to cultural /socioeconomic background: The classroom extends beyond mere physical elements such as desks, walls, and a chalkboard. It encompasses the comprehensive social, emotional, and academic experiences of students. As educators, we need to be empathetic and mindful of students’ cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds with undesired behavior, which can impact their interactions with others. challenging or problem behavior: All educators must practice empathy and patience with our students and be diligent in taking data driven observations to share with IEP teams to accurately implement guided behavioral plans to ensure student success.
When the kids are learning how to do a certain task they will question how to do it and if they have done it correctly; if we guide them with basic steps this will allow them to have creativity with how something is done. ( add an explanation and cite third). The classroom should be used as a space to start learning how to interact with the people around us. Learning how to work with the people around you, will boost their skills to ask for help when needed and to gain something from those experiences ( add an explanation and cite from the first reference).
Williams highlights the importance of acknowledging and respecting the cultural identities of students and avoiding stereotypes and generalizations. The third step, analyze, involves critically examining teaching practices, curriculum, and assessments to ensure that they are culturally responsive and inclusive.
The teachers need to understand the instructional designs and how to apply these. In executing this effectively the learning process should expose the utilization of theoretical frameworks, student centered learning, collaboration, culturally fit (diversity), awareness of different learning styles and reflective practices (Tuitt, 2003, p.251- 253). With this we can be sure that every child can learn every child must learn with inclusive pedagogy through accessibility of
The diversity of student backgrounds, abilities and learning styles makes each person unique in the way he or she reacts to information. The intersection of diverse student backgrounds and active learning needs a comfortable, positive environment in which to take root. Dr. King continues by explaining, “Education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason, but with no morals.” From back then to today’s society, kids are failing because they lack those morals that they need to succeed.
From all the diverse backgrounds, learning styles and needs in the program, there were many obstacles that I had to overcome to create a lesson that would
