Religion assignment 1
A modern depiction of God
It says in John 1:1 that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the word was God”. These words reflect a description of God, that nothing existed before God and everything existed after God. Without God, there would be no creation and no life. Psalm 104 celebrates the majesty of God as the Creator of all that is, all that has been and all that will be.
In its passages, Psalm 104 emphasises the power of God that is shown in Genesis.
In passages 1 and 2 of Psalm 104, it states “Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honor and majesty, 2 wrapped in light as with a garment”. These words reflect descriptions throughout the Bible that God is all-powerful. An

Passages 1-13 of Psalm 104 emphasise that God alone created the Earths foundations, life and the earth’s natural world. Specifically this can be seen in passage 5 which says “You set the earth on its foundations, so that it shall never be shaken”. (Psalm 104, passage 5, n.d.). This quote illustrates that God protects and nurtures the earth, and provides the strength for all life to form and flourish.
Another example of Psalm 104 emphasising the majesty of God is passages 10 and 11 which say “You make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills, giving drink to every wild animal; the wild asses quench their thirst” (Psalm 104, passage 10 and 11, n.d.). “...Springs gushing forth in the valleys” (Psalm 104, passage 10) indicate that there is water and water gives life. This is backed up by passage 11 “giving drink to every wild animal;...” (Psalm 104, passage 11, n.d.), stating that the springs provide the animals with life, and the animals needed to quench their thirst with those springs, or else they will
Francis Schaeffer and James W. Sire present a views of the universe that reflects judeo-scripture in their works. They describe the ideas that God created the universe to be good, and that God continues to oversee and Shepard all that lies within it. God did not simply form the earth with aimless intentions. He had an eternal detailed plan for all He created and would create, and all that He made had a good and holy purpose. In Genesis in Space and Time, Schaeffer conveys it as, “A doxology of all creation-everything glorifying God on its own level” (56).
At the point when religious debate inside the Christian culture turned into a staggering standard, assortments of reconstruction were pervasive in Western Europe. In England, the Protestant Reformation started with the Act of Supremacy in 1534, making Henry VIII the leader of the Anglican Church. The general population of England faced drawbacks under the power of Thomas Cromwell, for the land of the Catholic church was seized and religious communities brought around the legislature. Cromwell, as Henry's Lord Chancellor and leader of the King's Council, started strategies that soon prompted complaints and equipped challenges from his residents. The Pilgrimage of Grace permitted general society to effectively pass on their worries and desires
View you. We are mirrors of each others souls. God is manifest through the spirits of ancestors who can bring good or harm and must be honored in ceremonies (Ferris 123
“David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.” This simply means that God is always on your side if you are doing His will and it also means that he wants to help you succeed in accomplishing His will. Joshua 1:3-9 is another good piece of scripture representing this theme.
More specifically, in the religious text “Psalms” many people look towards God to aid them in their hardship. Breugmann asserts that this call for help is segmented in four sections: the address, complaint, an ask, and a promise. In order to dive deeper in this ideology of how people in Psalms seeked sanctuary in their own turmoil, we will be analyzing Psalm 22. Before getting into any specific analysis of what makes up the Psalm 22 sense of disorientation, it’s crucial to determine why the speaker is
To see his creations losing themselves to wealth and worshiping money and power over their creator. This can also relate to internal isolation and emptiness, as humans are nothing without god, and when they forget him, they begin to lose themselves; their souls and hearts become empty and
Literal sense: In Psalm 22, someone cries out to God and pleads for Him to save him from torments of his enemies. Progressively through the passage, he changes his tone. It goes from angry and negative to positive. He then thanks God for rescuing him.
The hurricane that portrayed a persisting power also allowed people’s faith in God to strengthen or weaken. When Janie looked outside and everything in town was destroyed and the hurricane continued, their only hope was God. She looked up: “[and her] soul asking if He meant to measure [her] puny might against His. [She] seemed to be staring at the dark, but [her] eyes were watching God” (160). The words “puny might,” and “soul asking” demonstrate the desperation for safety and show the acknowledgment of her powerlessness.
Khandakar Wahiduzzaman Professor Long Rel 111 May 15, 2023 God as Symbolic Ultimate “God is a Symbol for God” is a statement ascribed by the theologian Paul Tillich. Here Tillich outlines his thoughts on religious language and symbolism. Tillich argues that the traditional religion presents God as a being among beings; however, he believes that God goes beyond all restricted and limited categories, and those cannot be grasped or identified by humans.
- Need Context - “By the power of my spell, if the Creator has created this form, or if he has turned you into this form out of anger at you, stay as you are, but if you have been transformed bg my magic and cunning, turn back to your normal form, by the will of God, Creator of the world” (63). This particular phrase is repeated several times throughout the text. Each time, it includes words of praise to God, many of which have previously been stated. These ‘names’ empower God and cause him to appear as the ‘superior being.” At the same time, this expression allows humans to utilize God for their benefit.

Jesus is also seen as the Word of God in which all this were created. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” John 1:1-3 (The Holy Bible: The New International Version, n.d.)
A biblical scholar, Gertzenberger theorizes that Psalm 73 may have been first presented at a community meeting during the period of the Peruvian government. (Vort, 177). According to Seybold, this particular Psalm did originate during the Persian rule based on evidence in Job and Psalm 37, 39. (Vort, 177) Theological themes, such as the prosperity of the wicked and anguish of the pure, the tension among believers and fellowship with God and the truancy of temple centred theology, were customary during the Persian government.
There are many more examples of water mentioned in the Old Testament which remind of life. In the account of the great flood, water is connected to the danger of death. The account tells us that every species died except those that were in the ark with Noah. After the flood life begins again, new and fresh.
