Probability
Individuals make choices every day from the moment they wake up to the minute they go to sleep. People generate probability decisions on a daily basis without them realizing it. A few people elect to take a different route to work, hoping to encounter less traffic while others are conformable taking less risk as well as traveling familiar territory. Probability is the chance or likelihood of an event occurring (Mirabella, 2011). The focus will be on the various types of possibilities such as simple, joint, additional and conditional probabilities in answering five distinct practicability questions. A simple probability is demonstrated by first creating a pivot table with correct values. A pivot table was created using the Student Data File eliminating insignificant table fields. The pivot table consisted of two genders, Male and Female categorized as Event A on the Possibility Calculations Excel Sheet. Each gender elected a major which contained the following categories: Marketing, finance, leadership, and no major; labeled as Event B on the Probabilities Calculation Excel Sheet. The total sample made up of 200 students. The Excel sheet revealed the probability of randomly choosing a female is 50%. To understand how this answer was calculated one must first ensure validation

The additional rule explains the probability that either or both of two events occurring, as in this case gender or major. The probability of randomly choosing a Female OR Leadership major is 65%. Executing the calculation, one must first find all the women who are 100 plus 30 males are also part of the group that elected a leadership major divided by the 200 student samples; 130/300=.65 x100=65%. It is one thing to be able to plug in numbers from pivot table into an Excel worksheet, on the other hand doing the calculation with a simple calculation ensures the mastering of probable
The institution based their argument around the fact that was stated into the school’s policy that it was a school for women only and that by having this school, it balanced the discrimination of women. This argument was not very powerful in the swaying of the court. It was not a struggle for a women to be successful and have many job opportunities when it came to work. Men struggled more than women in this particular field. The court’s first chose to continued to endorse the university’s entrance arrangement.
The financial situation I see myself in consists of sharing a rented apartment with one other person—likely my sister or a close friend—and working at Badcock Home Furniture & More with an income around $14 an hour. Additionally, I imagine I would have a small side income based on my artistic works, but it wouldn’t not be too large due to the time each piece would take to create alongside a 40-hour work week. I do not imagine either myself or my roommate owning a pet or using cable television, and I know whoever I would room with would remain fairly frugal with their money. Furthermore, renting an apartment would reduce many of the expenses of living in a house, such as home improvement, repairs, and gardening. My cellphone plan is still under
I think the objectives set forth in Healthy People are a step in the right direction. They set goals that may not always be reached 100% but they are realistic and attainable. They always show improvement in areas that need work. However, there are some discrepancies that definitely stop the progress that Healthy People has set forth.
In sixth, seventh and eighth grade, students expand on their knowledge from third to fifth grade. They will study advance meaning and topics related to the self and family. Teachers will connect and describe the relationship each student have with society. Students with learn different types of individuals and their role in society. Expectation after eighth is includes being able to understand moral responsibility and virtuous actions; different types of individuals and their characteristics; how an individual relates to the family and peers; understand the meaning of respect; and begin studying The Analects of Confucius.
The sample size of 90 students involved 45 males, and 45 females, varying in age from 10 to 17 years old. A breakdown of my sample demographics is located in Figure 1. Due to this distribution there are many limitations of the surveyed data from this sample. Although I attempted to control the number of males and females tested in my sample, I was unable to control the gender in each age group and some groups vary in gender distribution such as age 10 which had no females and age 15 which has 4 extra females. As a result from what can be observed in Figure #1 a majority of the sample resides in the 16 year old category.
I am reading the short story “Sheila Mant” by W.D. Wetherell. In this story the boy has to choose between the biggest bass he has ever caught and a girl named Sheila Mont. I will be predicting whether the boy will choose Sheila or the bass. G through out the whole story the boy is trying to decide if he wants to choose the bass or Sheila. Y Bass R does not listen to Sheila R knows a lot about bass R puts work into keeping the bass on the line Y Shelia R Stalks her R ask her out R tries to impress her G I predict that the boy will pick the bass over Sheila because he has put much more effort into keeping the bass then paying attention to Shelia.
In his essay “The twenty-first-century Campus: Where Are the Men?” which appears in Sociology, Macionis describes the very common gender discrimination that favored men a century ago. Men’s colleges were to be seen in a great majority, however, steadily in a few years women began to increase. The gender gap was evident in all cultural categories at all class levels. Later on women started to become fairly a great majority at colleges and a gender imbalance was created. Women usually dominated discussions at college as there were few men in class.
This week we learned about how to keep respect for ourselves and for each other. We learned that chastity is respecting sex as a gift for your spouse. The speaker shared with us her own life story and we learned that she was a teen parent herself and that she had gone through some rough times. She shared with us that she was a teen mom and that before she engaged in sexual behavior, she was an honors student and she was focused on what was important but then after engaging in sexual behavior, she saw her grades drop drastically and she started to not care about the important things in life anymore.
1. - A: Outcomes for a Public Administration (whether standalone or blended) program would be: Employment Status after Graduation 1 – B: Upon graduation students who attend blended model MPA programs are more likely to apply for positions in both private and public sectors, whereas students from a standalone MPA program will apply for positions only within their sector. Independent Variable: Graduation from an MPA program Dependent Variable: Sector Positions applied for Values: Public Sector, Private Sector, and Nonprofit Sector 1 – C: For the independent variable of graduating from an MPA program is operationalized by completing the program and meeting all the requirements set by the program for graduation. The dependent variable would require asking participants to share what type of positions they had applied for upon completing the program. This could be done through a survey asking if past students had applied for positions within the 3 sectors. Both of these measures hold face validity.
Furthermore by knowing the factors to be successful, we can understand what should we do, how should we do and when should we do. Statistic can be used in almost all careers and all periods of our life. The topics I want to learn and understand is how to calculate probability with many uncertain factors, and how to analyze data precisely by using words and
The line chart illustrates the figures for graduates for both sexual categories from universities of Canada over a period of 15 years beginning 1992. Overall, it is immediately obvious that the numbers of the university graduates in Canada experienced upward trends. It is also noted that the women tended to be significantly higher than the men in the rate of people graduating from the universities on the period shown.
Students at CU aren’t your typical college student. Students at CU are different. They are very friendly, outgoing, love the outdoors, love to have a social life, very studious, and most of all smart. Students at CU aren’t just in search of a good job, they are looking to make change. The reading, “To All the Girls I’ve Rejected” by Jennifer Delahunty Britz (1), describes how she believes young women are discriminated against when it comes to the college application.
The article written by Jennifer Britz was a wakeup call to realize how equality among men and women still isn’t the way that it should be. She explained the process for accepting, rejecting, and wait listing into her college. She stated " The reality is that because young men are rarer, they 're more valued applicants.” (Britz) Mediocre men are chosen over talented women just to keep the numbers more even.
Topic: College Admission Discrimination When applying to college, many questions have to be answered. Some ask for achievements and involvements whereas others ask for more personal information such as race and gender. Today, the court system sees many cases regarding acts of discrimination in the college application process. Obviously, some discrimination does exist whether it happens consciously or unconsciously.
The trends on the numbers of students applying a major in engineering, liberal arts, and allied health programs in 2005 through 2009 from Acme University, can drastically be shown the differences between each major from the graph. The graph shows the differences between the amounts of students applying a major in engineering, liberal arts, and allied health by the enrollment year, which is between 2005 through 2009 and the amount of students applied. We can already analyze that liberal arts was a popular topic, but had dips between the years. Engineering was a slow candidate to choose, but soon started to rise. Allied Health was the same in the beginning year.
