In Hispanic countries, Semana Santa is the equivalent of our Holy Week in the United States. Semana Santa is a week long celebration before Easter. People celebrate Semana Santa starting on Domingo de Ramos, or Palm Sunday. They celebrate with parades and going to church. Spain usually has the most colorful celebrations out of all the Hispanic countries.
So every year we celebrate a day called Flag Day. The flag day lands on the 4th of July. There is a lot of things that had happened in the past on flag day. On the 14th of June George Balach planned an appropriate ceremonie for everyone to join him. On the flag day in chicago there was over 300,00 kids and adults that participated in the celebration.

The Krewe of Centaur Mardi Gras Parade was organized in 1991, by the common goals of building a better community and the pursuit of good family fun. It’s the largest parade in the Ark-La-Tex area. It takes place 10 days before Fat Tuesdays. The Aseana spring festival is a festival of different Asian culture in the country. Each year the festival celebrates one Asian culture in particular and this year on April 2nd Shreveport celebrated the Laotian culture.

In addition to teaching those camps, I also help out at the school. I work multiple concession stands, whether it’s for basketball, softball, or baseball games and I also volunteer to work scoreboard for volleyball or basketball tournaments on the weekends. Lastly, this past Christmas all of the chorus members walked around town and went caroling to local businesses, such as the library, the fire station, and the bank. Because this was our first time caroling, I considered it a great experience and plus, it allowed the community to get free entertainment. I enjoy helping out the community and I believe it allows me to become a better person overall.
