In addition, the pump efficiency varied throughout its operating range, and its lowest points appeared on the left and right hand sides of the curve. The pump was more efficient at the center of the curve. Discussion From the results of this experiment, the pump efficiency was higher when the pump head was at the highest level. However, the behavior of the curve differed from what was anticipated. It was expected that the pump efficiency would intersect with the pump head, but this was not the case in the plotted graph. Perhaps, these deviations were caused by sources of errors. One of the possible sources of error is presence of particles in the fluid which in effect, affected the pump discharge. In addition, the flow rate measurement device was inaccurate. The results of this experiment can be used in real-life applications. Emma Carruth Period 2 25 October, 2015 Dr. Frank Project Proposal Researchable Question: How does a circuit connected to a pump regulator, which models an artificial pancreas, affect the regulation of blood sugar over time? Experiments: Using an acidic solution (Vinegar) to mimic the high blood glucose levels and a basic solution (Baking Soda) to mimic the insulin. A pump, that is connected to a cricut board, will turn on and off automatically based on how high the glucose levels are and it will add the basic solution to the acidic solution so that it will return the glucose levels to normal. Based on my observations I hypothesized that both Herbert Run and the Commons stream would have a high level of nitrate, conductivity, and turbidity. I hypothesized this because of traffic, liter, and the waste and pollution in both streams. For the Commons Stream, the Conductivity was 1086µS/cm. The turbidity was 0 FAU. Last, the Nitrate level for Commons was 0.08 ppm.
I can interpret that if a snail is presented with both leaves then it will only eat the plain leaves and not the striped leaves. It doesn’t eat the striped ones because it knows that a clover that can produce cyanide is striped and therefore poisonous, so it tends to stay away from it. That’s why the snail didn’t eat the clover the plain leaf that was painted with white stripes. From the wild it knows not to eat striped leaves. It’s pretty much like a visual warning.
Introduction: The aim of this experiment was to see whether water, Powerade or orange juice contained more electrolytes. Electrolytes are responsible for controlling the total amount of water in the body, regulating blood volume and maintaining muscle and nerve function. A lack of these electrolytes can cause headaches, fatigue, confusion, hallucinations and muscle spasms. I found that water and distilled water were less conductive than the orange juice and Powerade and orange juice proved to be the most conductive.
This lab uses a lake simulation to study how the addition of nutrients and toxins can affect the lake, its inhabitants and the surrounding area. There is a strong focus on the addition of Phosphorous and added toxins because both are key elements in growth in lakes. The Virtual lake includes these five simulated species; green algae, cyanobacteria, bosmina, daphnia, and trout. There are two types of phytoplankton in the lake model, green algae and cyanobacteria. Green algae are a very diverse group that are photosynthetic, aquatic, plant like organisms that have a very simple reproductive structure.
The essay “Science: It’s Just not Fair”, by Dave Barry, some truths about science fairs that many students have to participate in are brought out. Barry starts the essay with the beginning of the science fair project process, which is usually put off until the last minute. He sarcastically and ironically describes the process as a student who is rushing to do their project the night before the due date. Barry also includes and comments on the the ironic importance of the hypothesis and conclusion in the science fair process, showing how they usually very vague statements. In conclusion, air pressure has a direct influence on the distance that the ball will travel when thrown. The hypothesis stated that if pressure is added to the football, then the distance the ball projects will increase when distance is a function of pressure. Based on the data that was collected from the experiment, the hypothesis was supported. When the football had more air inside, it went the farthest distance compared to the other two pressures that data was collected from.

Although the balls are gauged 2 hours and 15 minutes prior to the game, they are returned to the teams before the game started. Based on extensive research and data, the Patriots’ balls were tampered with prior to the game. The solubility test required using a scale to measure .575 of our unknown white compound. The unknown compound was measured in a 100 mL beaker.

An organ bath experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of agonist, histamine on guinea pig ileum (GPI) and how the antagonists, mepyramine and SIPBSDrug A affect the GPI’s response (smooth muscle contractions). A GPI simulation was conducted to compare the potencies and nature of antagonists against histamine. The control Rmax and EC50 of histamine without antagonist were 16.49gms and 2.093 x 10-7M respectively. The concentration-response curves were shifted to right parallelly and EC50 increased while Rmax remained constant when mepyramine or SIPBSDrug A was added. Besides, both antagonists showed linear graphs in Schild plot, indicating that they acted as reversible competitive antagonists.
