They fight for our freedom and our rights and we repay them by becoming homeless. Us Americans should be helping our troops when they come home. We do not treat our veterans right. They fight for our country, but when they come home they are not treated right. The physical, mental and emotional fatigue that comes with serving in combat is immense and many soldiers see their
There are many different emotions, actions, and expressions associated with grieving, which helps the person come to terms with their loss. Not everyone has the same reaction to grief because every loss is different (American Cancer Society, 2014). The personal experience of dying or losing a loved one can be very difficult, especially if the death is unexpected compared to a person who has been ill for a long time (Kazanowski, 2014). Grieving includes the whole emotional process of coping with a loss and it can last a long time for some people. Grieving allows people to let the person close to them go so they can keep living in a healthy way (American Cancer Society, 2014).
Peoria received federal recognition for its groundbreaking work in assimilating veterans back into mainstream society. The Veterans’ Service Center with the assistance of grants from various organizations focused their work on rehabilitating and treating veterans that were physically and emotionally disabled. Another struggle veterans faced returning from the war was the housing shortage. Affordable housing could not be built fast enough to accommodate the rising need. The most common solution to this issue was local authorities using public funds to clear slums and build commercial sites.
Kristof’s use of logos is strong due to the amount of facts and statistics he offers to his audience, but he fails to strongly use pathos and ethos, due to the lack of these elements Kristof’s argument is weakened. Kristof somewhat effectively argues that if guns and their owners were controlled in the same way that cars and their drivers are, thousands of lives could be protected each year by using persuasive techniques. Kristof’s essay adequately compares car regulations to gun control. He is extremely comprehensive on reasons why we should have gun regulations similar to automobiles controls. Kristof contrasts the statistics of firearm and automobile deaths to move the readers to harmonize with his opinion of the subject.
Luckily, we were blessed with a few miracles and did not lose our home. But it was scary knowing that we might be kicked out of our home because a drunk driver hit our car. These things happen to people all the time, but aren’t as fortunate as my dad and I were. Later in our speech we will share another story that for someone didn’t work out. “Let your love be the kindness to make a homeless person believe that a soul needs something more than just four walls and a ceiling.” -Munia Khan.
Flint, Michigan still doesn’t have clean water, but relief groups, individuals, and celebrities alike have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, working to bring clean water to the city in any way possible. Without the generosity and social responsibility of these people, the inhabitants of Flint, Michigan may have had to suffer from years of lead-poisoned water, leading to illness, birth defects, and even death. Activists are still necessary in this crisis, however. Until Flint has access to clean water, their marginalized community relies on the voices of other responsible American citizens to make their struggle known, and bring justice to their
A lot of drivers won't do this because they assume purchasing in-state coverage is the best way. As stated before, auto insurance is important for anyone to have, as it compensates people in auto accidents, allowing them to pay for auto repairs. Organs are in short supply, many people think they’re a donor but they really are not. With the opioid epidemic there is an increase in unusable organs. So many people are not very uncomfortable thinking about surgeons cutting you open and getting organs out of your body, but honestly you don’t need them after you die. Imagine the 8 live you can save with one simple act of kindness after you leave this world. On your driver 's license do you see that red heart that can change so many lives?
If a friend were to die in a car crash that they were involved in they might get angry that it couldn’t be them. Another example is that if their dad or family member went overseas to go to war and they died they might be mad at the world and remove themselves from society causing them to not develop social skills and not be able to differentiate right from wrong. There are many ways to prevent youth violence. One of which is a program that reduces the use of drugs and alcohol abuse, called Life Skills Training (LST) it’s designed to reduce gateway drug use. The program includes three parts: self-management skills, social skills, and information and skills related specifically related to drug use.
If an “outsider” were to come to our country they might have mixed feelings about what we have and use on a regular basis. “Outsiders” might think we are a strange country for driving everywhere we go instead of walking places, and for taking medicine to help us function and feel better. As some countries rely on healing through time, and just walking everywhere. These people would also feel that we are a spoiled, materialistic country that has everything, and takes things for granted, or even that we abuse our society and take advantage of our societies resources. “Outsiders” might think the latter due to the fact that we do drive almost everywhere, and the majority of people in smaller cities don’t walk places if a car is available to them.
Of the many veterans positives available to you, those that the VA provides for education and employment preparation often is the most generous. The very same hands on adventure that tempted you to military service can be had within a professional technical training school.
Many veterans that have served this country have ended up homeless or in poverty. This nation has struggled with getting a handle of this problem and putting adequate supports in place to resolve the problem. Veterans need to have the right supports in place to prevent this. The veterans’ services need to be comprehensive supports, and in place as soon as a soldier transitions to civilian life. Discharged veterans need more specific and efficient non-criteria based services including transitional services, higher education and homelessness prevention.
Another challenge Hispanics must learn to overcome is health care. They may not be used to the type of food we eat and maybe get sick. Where the weapons were obtained in the sandy hook shooting and the Orlando shooting were dramatically different. Lanza took the weapons from his mother who owned them legally, but Lanza was unable to have firearms because of his mental illness. Mateen was cleared by the federal background check even though the FBI did some monitoring on him. His radical beliefs caught the eye of the federal government, but someone 's religion can not be used to stip individuals of their rights. Lastly he explains that, “cultural beliefs are significantly related to people’s opinions about gun control, but the strongest, most consistent predictors of people’s gun control preferences are their political beliefs and affiliations,” (Wozniak 2).
