The purpose of a career assessment is to let the individual who is taking it knows their career preference, their interest and also let them know what kind of career suits them the best. The individual can also find out their personal traits and also what their values are which is important when looking for a career. An assessment also lets the individual know what their better values and ability are at before they visit the career counselor. In a career assessment, there is no wrong or no right as it is just testing the individual’s ability and see which career would suit that individual the most. Career counseling normally involved information that will be asked from the client to ensure good decision is made (Savickas, 1993). This means that the counselor must not tell or leak any information to anyone about the client as everything that is asked from the client is their personal information. The next ethical responsibility of a trained counselor is that the counselor must have the right knowledge and also enough knowledge about the career to be able to help their client. Counselors are able to come up with a more direct understanding of why their client comes for the counseling (Drummond & Jones, 2010).This means that in order for the counselor to be able to have enough understanding about their client, they must first gather information on the client like their interest and also their values and what they prefer more in a career. The next thing the counselor will do is to find out the clients beliefs and behavior and also what kind of career environment they prefer to work in. The counselor then must be able to make sure that the information that they have gathered from the client is accurate and also must be able to identify the client’s main goals and what makes them not able to go to that career in the first place and also their unrealistic ways to reach that
