Introduction
The quantitative and qualitative approaches should not be understood as in one research is used only quantitative method, but in another one is used only the qualitative method. Both approaches represent certain systems of outlooks, within which ideas of cognitive functions of methods and priorities of its relevance for scientific research are formed. When you decide which model to choose, it is important to have the idea of what the main goal of collecting the information is.

The reason for that is that in quantitative research is treated as most reliable and evidential. It is based on a set of ideas, considering the formation of concepts as a procedure of ascension from facts to the general theory. Quantitative method of research follows from idea of the need of strict studies of the given "facts".
The qualitative approach can be used in quantitative study, but only in supporting roles. The results and the data obtained by qualitative research are usually treated as preliminary, unreliable, etc. Definitely, such opinion has are certain justifications, however, decades of experience in empirical work suggests that this opinion is insufficiently deep.
The qualitative approach means such nature of research at which the main focus is placed on theoretical resources, individual experience, observation and intuition, traditional means of the philosophical and logical analysis of categories and concepts, historical comparisons, use of personal and official documents. Moreover, the qualitative methodology unlike quantitative one pays much attention to the use of qualitative methods of empirical research. The company assumes that the overhead costs are the consequences of equipment malfunctions due to the depreciation of production equipment. In order to define if this is the proper assumption or not it has to execute the following policies in its business:
• Whenever equipment cracks, the employee responsible for machine has to log the time when it happened. Thus, opportunity cost performed for crash in production due to equipment failure.
• Whenever equipment cracks, a problem ticket must with all the information must be submitted to the support department as it is its responsibility to fix the machine and report about all the necessary costs to the main office.
• When a partner comes to service crashed machine, a maintenance ticket will be created by the support department which will inform about the time taken in order to repair the equipment and the cost of the repairs; this will also be reported to the main office.
This is the way how the given company decided to collect all different types of reports and load it into the database so that at the end of one year it can create the yearly report with all the details and calculate the total lost in revenue due to equipment crashes during the year.
