In contrast to the instruments and procedures highly controlled and goals used by quantitative methodology, comes an arsenal methodological linked the social sciences, which is more relevant to scientific studies that address the man as a central subject. Under the criticism that it cannot measure subjective data, qualitative research focuses on the meanings which are attributed by individuals to the experiences they experience according to their own perspectives (Kirk and Miller, 2014, p.98). Considering their different approaches, quantitative and qualitative research also differs in how their studies are developed, in particular with regard to collection processes and data analysis. Thus, these studies must have different criteria for evaluation …show more content…

Reliability means that the search procedure can be repeated persistently and produce the same result, regardless of when and how they were played. The issue of validation, in qualitative research, can be solved in terms long and when it comes to a close observation. The validity and reliability in qualitative research depend on the skills, sensitivity, rigor, competence and integrity of the observer.
Triangulation aims to generate greater scope to the description, explanation and understanding of research questions. The realization of triangulation assumes “that is impossible to conceive the existence isolated from a social phenomenon without historical roots without cultural meanings and without narrow and essential linkages with a macro-reality Social.”(Kirk and Miller, 2014, p.98). According to Long and Johnson (2000), there are four basic types of triangulation that may be used for the validation and verification of qualitative analysis:
• Triangulation methods: it aims to confirm the consistency of the results generated by different methods of data collection;
• Sources of Triangulation: confirm the consistency of different data sources using the same method of …show more content…

The qualitative research papers are constantly called “Soft science ", not scientific, exploratory and subjective. This resistance permeates the fact the traditions of qualitative research imply a critique of positivist and post-project positivist that considers as a misguided and erroneous methodological approaches towards naturalism and scientism, which they consider to be "(Merriam, 2009, p.234).At the time of the social sciences learn from the natural sciences what the scientific method is.” Kirk and Miller (2014) emphasize on the fact that, the understanding the philosophical foundations that pervade qualitative methods is critical to understand that qualitative research not it means less rigorous or less investigative value. Of the criticism to surveys conducted by social scientists, using methods Qualitative research takes place mainly by reducing direct and immediate consequence of the results of this research, as highlighted by Merriam (2009), the author debate that natural sciences in general develop research that gives rise to the great theories’ magnitude and with great influence, while social theories rarely become so popular. The author also highlights the need to reduce the studied problems that it can isolate them and understand them better, which carries the risk of oversimplifying too much reality. Furthermore, as the intrinsic characteristics
