“The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves” (“Ray Kroc Quotes”). When Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonalds, said this, he was spot on. The standards, that is qualities or attributes, of a leader show how much they impact and the successfulness of their endeavors. The list of standards includes patience, courage, kindness, and self-control. The president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela exhibited patience throughout his life and many leadership positions. The 1st president of the United States of America, George Washington, shows us courage from stories of his life. One of the most influential women in history, Mother Teresa, teaches us many things about how a leader must be kind to be effective. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president, gives great examples of self-control while in a leadership position. These examples teach and define what high impact and successful leaders are. Patience is a virtue. This old-as-time adage has been rehearsed to us since our childhoods. In her article about how patience increases success, author Sherrie Campbell advises that in order to be patient, we must practice it. “Patience,” She says, “is not something we have; it is something we consciously do.” Campbell continues, relating patience to everything in our lives, from our relations with employees, businesses, and any communication.
