Secondly, Odysseus in all his journeys, in my opinion has been larger than life. Surviving way too many times, has faced way to many difficulties, and he is still intact. An idiosyncratic part of Odysseus’ image is bravery, but he shouldn’t use it as a panacea all the time. He shows strong leadership and more nobility throughout the story than most men. An example of that is when he lead them through book 9 when he got his men out of the cave and got out of the island I would like to add that he which meant he still made sure his men are secure resulting in him looking very responsible and is really a true leader.
In The Odyssey by Homer, the main character is portrayed to be a hero. To be heroic means to have courage and bravery. Also, it means that you're intelligent, you are a strategic, and you do what is right. In all, Odysseus exhibits many heroic qualities. The epic poem by Homer. There is a character named Odysseus; He has been away from his land for 20 years after the battle of troy. Wondering in places looking for a way to get back with his wife and kid. Odysseus has been through a lot on finding a way home. He has done things that may be considered non heroic but for me he is heroic for being brave,courageous, and intelligent.
Many of these traits that George has are the same to Odysseus. He was a commander for his army while sailing to Troy. Troy was an enemy towards Ithaca. Also, Odysseus had just as many hardships as George. He got sent away from his family battling Troy.
Compare and Contrast: In Homer’s book, The Odyssey, Alcinous, King of the Phaeacians is a kind, rich, and forgiving man. He accepts Odysseus into his palace with open arms, places him on a shining chair, and gives him food (Homer 83). He tells his people to make sure that Odysseus is guided home and remains free from trouble, although he lives in a far away land (Homer 83). Alcinous is an extremely hospitable man, doing everything he can to assist Odysseus on his journey home, but also make him feel welcome on his island.
On Island #3 in Homer’s The Odyssey, the epic hero trait that Odysseus displays is being clever. Odysseus and 12 of his men go into a cave on Kyklopes Island. The cave is owned by Polyphemus, the kyklopes. Odysseus and his men are trapped in the cave and Odysseus comes up with a very clever idea.
Was Odysseus a hero? The definition of hero - “a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.” In Homer's Odyssey Odysseus was a major part in the victory of the Trojan war, he was the one who came up with the idea of the Trojan Horse which should make him a hero only for that. All Odysseus wanted to do was to get home but some obstacles were placed in front of him preventing him from getting home, yes it was bad decisions that led these obstacles to be put there but everyone makes mistakes. But instead of falling to these obstacles he persevered and got home to his Mom, wife and son.

“The Odyssey” is an Epic Poem which discusses the life story of Odysseus. The main focus of the poem is the journey of Odysseus and his way back home. Certain events distract him, most importantly; his encounter with the Gods, Goddesses. It takes Odysseus all of what it takes to head back home, including his bravery and intelligence. These qualities in Odysseus not only help himself but his men survive through the chaos of the journey called “The Odyssey”.
There are many types of hero, fictional, historical, and modern day. Odysseus was a historical hero, who saved his home of Ithaca. He had so many heroic traits, such as, bravery, courage, caring, loyalty, determination, and so much more. Fictional, modern day and other historical heroes have many of these traits as well. Therefore, the word hero has not changed.
