Queen Elizabeth I, was the ruler of England during the 14th century. She was born on September 7, 1533, in Greenwich, United Kingdom. Her parents were Henry VIII of England and Anne Boleyn. Queen Elizabeth started her rule in 1558 when she was only 25 years old. Many people didn’t see her as the legitimate heir to the English throne. Even though she didn’t have the approval of all of her subjects, she is still considered one of the best rulers of England. There were many responsibilities that came with being a ruler of a country, including the duty to strengthen alliances through marriage. An affair in that day and time would have been extremely secretive. Especially since the affair was between a queen and a lesser noble. There would have been a servant absolutely loyal to the throne and especially to Queen Elizabeth. This person would have delivered letters between Elizabeth and Dudley. It is possible that there was more than one person delivering messages between the two lovers. Furthermore, these people would have been loyal and close to the Queen and Dudley. November 18, 1558, Queen Elizabeth gave the title, “Master of the Horse,” to Robert Dudley. This title would secure that Robert Dudley would see the Queen on almost a daily basis. The title bestowed on Dudley, would’ve been a perfect fit for him. He was known as an excellent horseman and had a particular interest in royal accommodation and transportation. This was one of the many rumored causes of her death. Amy Dudley was in the advanced stages of breast cancer, this could have caused her bones to be very brittle. More brittle than a 28-year-old woman’s bones should be. A short fall would have been all it would have taken to break a neck as fragile as Amy Dudley’s neck was. Another possible cause of her death could have been a suicide. It is possible that she knew something was going on between her husband and Elizabeth. Robert Dudley was hardly at home with his wife, so it is possible that she felt the emotional stress of it. Regardless of what happened to Amy Dudley, Robert Dudley recovered from her death
