1. Quiznos is a submarine sandwich company that originated in Denver, Colorado in 1981. The company says that they “believe that food should taste great and that we should use only the highest quality ingredients to create your perfect lunch” (WE’RE BOLD). The company was founded as a privately held company and grew to more than 5,000 locations by 2007, but since then Quiznos has struggled. Jimmy Lambatos, a chef, and Todd Disner, a restaurateur, created Quiznos. Lambatos created the popular product of a submarine sandwich running through a conveyor belt toaster that added crunch that the customers would love.
The company was bought out by one of its franchise locations owner, Rick Schaden, who then expanded the company significantly and sold franchise rights by the thousands. After this, there has been a constant battle between Quiznos franchises and the company that accused the chain of selling rights to too many locations, and then demanding that the franchises buy supplies from the company at prices that made them destined to fail. Schaden was the one who made it mandatory for the franchises to purchase all of their supplies, ranging from cold cuts to background music CDs, from the company

Quiznos mission statement is, “To be a leader in quick service restaurants by serving the best sandwiches and products in and around sandwiches in the marketplace… One successful restaurant and one successful wowed customer at a time” (Mayer). This mission statement does not address how they plan to be so successful and it does not what the organization does (Dunn, 2010). For the purpose of surviving, it would be beneficial for Quiznos to edit its mission statement to further address its franchise locations and prices. If Quiznos employees are working with the appropriate mission, then the employees’ goal could become more specific on how to make the company
The business we chose to focus our project on is Publix Supermarkets. On Sept. 6, 1930, founder George Jenkins opened his first store, called Publix Food Store, in Winter Haven Florida. Today Publix has grown to be Florida’s largest employer with 168,500 employees and run 1,080 stores. Total sales in 2013 were 28.9 billion, relatively large for a regional corporation. Their mission statement is “To be the premier food quality retailer in the world,” and they’re doing an excellent job at it.
Congratulations on the 2017 third quarter results for Publix. Store sales, earnings, and a higher stock price are impressive. With Publix headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, and 775 stores in Florida, the company is a prominent business for our state. With a history dating back to 1930 and founder George W. Jenkins, Publix has become one of the largest employee-owned grocery chains in the United States. I am a long-time Publix shopper and appreciate the friendly customer service provided by store employees.
Mission statements will ensure that shareholders, employees and customers clearly understand what the company stands for. Mission statements also describe the organization’s overall goals. Mission statements should be written in a way that when someone reads the statement, they have an understanding of the activities that are performed in the organization. In this paper I will compare the mission statement of Chick-Fil-A Foundation with my personal mission statement. Chick-fil-A Foundation Chick-fil-A Foundation is a non-profit organization that’s sole purpose is to provide leadership and guidance to children and also support education in the local communities.
Finally, John must be an achiever. Since teamwork is key to the success of the store, John must maintain his positive work environment with associates when everyday life seems to be stagnant. He is able to give enough time and attention to several managerial duties while completing his daily personal goals during turbulent times. John delegates duties to associates when needed. For example, ordering supplies, counting supplies and checking for out-dated merchandise.
This paper explores three health organization services that include: Washington Hospital Healthcare System (WHHS) - Fremont, Kaiser Permanente - Fremont, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and will discuss the description and services that the HSO provides, their mission statement, and description of the HSO management. I chose these hospitals because I have volunteered at WHHS, am a member of Kaiser Permanente, and will one day like to work as a Registered Nurse in Pediatric care. Washington Hospital Healthcare System or Washington Township Care District, is a not-for-profit hospital that was created in 1948 to provide people living in Southern Alameda County such as Fremont, Newark, and Union City with access to a broad range of high quality
Morehouse School of Medicine is an appealing option for pursuing my medical education. When reading Morehouse’s mission statement, improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities grasped my attention. My clinical experiences revolve around communities that are underserved, and sharing the same mission as Morehouse is key to becoming the physician I aspire to be. One of the things that stood out to me about Morehouse is the student run Good Samaritan Health Center. I am very interested about being involved with God Samaritan, because it is akin to the Siloam Family Health Center that I volunteer at, and it is an embodiment of Morehouse’s mission.

Chipotle Strategic Profile and Case Analysis Purpose Chipotle Mexican Grill founded in 1993 by Steve Ells became known as the fast-casual dining in the restaurant industry (Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskisson, 2013). It was the first of its kind when Ells first opened his first restaurant and brought the idea of made-to-order burrito. The concept is so simple, and the consumer is in control of what ingredients goes into their burrito. “The immediate success from Ells’ first restaurant allowed him to repay the $80,000 loan that he borrowed from his father within a month of opening” (Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskisson, 2013, p. 71). Furthermore, this gave him the confidence to open his second restaurant in just two years.
They’ve also refined the goal to reflect their commitment as to make the life of the customers easier by offering great quality and by serving at fair prices to meet the needs
This provides a valuable tool for molding the kind of success-orientated culture at Chipotle. Instead of wasting time and resources while recruiting new members, they save time, capital, and resources by rewarding and promoting from within. This leads to maximization of profit, reduction of turnover, and improved employee satisfaction and performance through retained knowledge, skills, and experience of long-term employees. The net effect of these communication and management methodologies is to ensure that services offered to customers are of the highest possible quality. For example, 84% of the customers spend less than five minutes waiting to be served.
Introduction The restaurant industry in the United States had annual sales of $ 631.8 billion and employs 12.9 million people in 2012. Even in times of recession there is little evidence that this industry has seen a decline especially in its fast food and quick service segment. But with a depressed economy with no immediate upward trend in the near future, majority of the customers indicated that they would either curtail their spending on eating or best maintain its current level which is certainly going to affect the future of many restaurants in the industry. Chipotle is part of the fast casual segment of the U.S industry with over 1,600 restaurants.
The Industry demand has changed due to a shift in consumers’ attitudes towards healthier products. This placed Starbucks’ coffee culture at risk and threatened the company’s future. Starbucks has tailored their menu to include more organic and healthy product mixes, venturing into tea, bread and fresh juice products (Geereddy, n.d). Starbucks’ cornerstone product differentiation strategies and Human Resource Management are the main impacts to strategy formulation.
Franchising and decision variables The article in Franchising versus company-run operations: Modal choice in the global hotel sector discusses the various aspects considered by well-established hotels when they face the dilemma of whether to franchise a new hotel in a new geography or actually own the hotel themselves. The article is helpful in drawing the parallels for franchising decisions in service industry and especially pretty apt for the services which include high initial capital investment. The authors (F J Contractor & S K Kundu) borrow the definition of franchising from Caves & Murphy 1976 at the onset of the article and visualize the prospective franchisee as the sales agent or distributor of the brand owner.
Yale is committed to improving the world … who serve all sectors of society. It was two years ago that I came across this mission statement. Strangely, it sounded familiar, and then I realized this was what my parents always taught me – to serve others. This prompted me to research about Yale, leading me to find out a major called Global Affairs.
