This is heavily emphasized because self-guided learning is good for critical thinking skills as well as better preparing us for the real world. He even says that the wants what we learn and the conclusions that we come to in our journals to carry over to our other classes. He emphasizes this because he values a teacher as a guide. They should not spoon feed you the answers, rather they should guide you to come to your own
I would prefer to ‘think’ about it, ‘feel’ it if there’s a chance and then make an attempt to ‘do’ it. I have always learnt better when the theories are explained along with their practical associations. I learn best when application of those concepts can be experienced with getting my hands dirty. Practical application of concepts and Hands-on experience of the same (when possible) were always crucial in the process of my learning and I believe this is the way which will take me forward in life. My learning model is to explore and experiment through the following processes that I am or wish to be a part of: • Academic
My experience with co-teaching has been beneficial for my class especially for the ELLs and the monolingual students. When my mentor is teaching, my lowest students sit in a different table with me. Differentiation has helped them because they get additional help, clarification of any misconceptions, restating of key vocabulary or key points and also they get to use manipulatives that might help them understand a concept better. This differentiation has helped as they are testing higher in math and two ELL students are now reading at grade level. Co-teaching allows both teachers to work together and it allows for many instructional strategies.
When looking at the pros and cons of each I found that; first, I really focused on the pros of each of the theories and wanted to see the best aspects of each, second, some of the theories played into one another. Social learning is great in that students can learn from observing, so in online learning this might be showing an example of completed work. Or it could be showing a chemistry experiment through a video, the student would be learning through the observing of the video. Constructivism has a focus on the authentic experiences and problem solving. As a teacher I have found that the minute I can make something authentic, or prove that the student will use the concept in another area of their life, the student is on board learning the concept.
I believe that Intellectual Perseverance is the trait that I would say I still have an opportunity for improvement. As mentioned above, I want results and I want them now. This course i 've had to read and read some of our text to understand some of the theories that were presented. It really makes you think so at times it has been a challenging to slow down and refresh. I will say I really like the discussions we 've had in class though.
Constant writing, proofreading and a little bit of constructive criticism is what I expected from this course. Upon entering the course my expectations were surpassed, Dr. PHP was not an easy teacher but she was an effective teacher. Her lessons and explanations in class worked well for me especially in my writing. Giving us handouts dealing with grammatical errors like comma splices and giving us examples in class of how an outline should be written really helped out a lot. Another thing that
It also shared that when you do observe that you should paper and pencil so that you can write brief notes as you are observing a child. By taking notes, it will help you not miss anything and that way you can write everything down the right way. Running records are so descriptive, so it is essential to be as detailed as possible. I liked how the book had a section about running records because it gave me an insight into what I am going to have to do when I go and observe a child. I also like how it gave examples that way I know how to do one correctly.
In order to view situations, one has to find different approaches by stepping outside their boundaries. One strategies I use is proofreading and taking notes because it helps me to enhance my critical writing and reading skills. When proofreading, I always read the material twice, allowing my learning patterns to help guide me. By learning the behavior of metacognitive, I have learned to self-regulate my learning patterns, in order to overcome my challenges and understanding my behavior and thoughts by regulating my learning process. Using a word wall or checklist, is also a strategy that will help me to
It also helped better my presentation skills and analyzation skills. My presentations were more organized because during the critique my teacher told me that my paper organization needs to be done better. Analyzation became easier so when I read over essays I could catch my errors before the teacher caught them. The critique didn’t just improve my essay skills, but my literacy skills in
Throughout the course we focused on face and facework by how it can be built, threatened, saved, or supported. • I liked the instructional format and structure of this course because it helped me learn in a more productive way than in my other classes. I really liked how we were required to do four reflection papers on the chapters and integration essays because I learned a lot more having to write about the subject in-depth. In addition, the role plays gave me a sense of what the chapter was about in real life situations by us having to act it
While this question does deal more with vocabulary, making it more understandable that so few students answered it correctly; I decided to work in activities that would continue building our source analysis skills nevertheless. One way I did this was during our lesson covering the Plessy v. Ferguson court case. I had students read both a primary and a secondary source and then answer questions that tested not only their knowledge and comprehension skills with respect to the sources, but also their evaluation and application skills as well. In general, this pre-assessment allowed me to better understand where my classes stood with regards to the subject matter at hand. The knowledge I gleaned from this activity resulted in a more tailored and focused learning experience for my students which met them where they were instead of assuming what they did or didn’t know.
The reading strategies we discussed in class and in the courses content made me a better reader by showing me many different ways to read and write and understand it very well. It uses all these methods such as the KWL charts, writing a memo and reading the novel I selected helping me improve my skills greatly to become a better reader. Putting together the reading, writing oral communication and examining media all connected in helping me become a good reader and helped me to comprehend the understanding of making a personal connection to the world around you. That 's what help 's you in the future to make the the best choices possible so that later on when you make a mistake in reading you can look at the experience you had and learn how to properly correct yourself because at the end of the day they all deal with different skill set 's but all help you to become better in everything you
I am proud of this assignment because it took a lot of time and I actually grew to love the assignment. It took time, to find the right format, research my questions on what the font or order of the content would be. It was interesting and fun to write a different type of writing style. I improved on Information Skills by that I learned what kind of sources professors/teachers love and what sources they dislike. I also learned that there is no harm in asking the teacher what kind of sources they suggest.
I will share each rubric with my students before their final drafts are due so they know exactly how they will be evaluated and to clear up confusion or uncertainty. According to Carbery and Leahy, there are many well-documented benefits to using rubrics including: • Helping students learn more effectively • Students understanding the expectations of the instructors • Grades becoming more meaningful • Making is explicit what students are expected to learn • Facilitating self-evaluation • Promoting deep learning While I did use the state-provided rubrics as models, I made several modifications to each rubric in order to make them directly applicable to my classroom assignments. For instance, I added point values to each criteria on the rubric. The categories worth more points are the areas of the lesson that I find to be most important. These are also the areas that I will reiterate and emphasize to my students over the course of the unit.
With the help of Perdue, it made easier to distingue APA, MLA and Chicago citations. Learning these citations helped me to meet the standard in WRGT 101. The other important resource was a video lesson which helped me to improve my writing strategy. Arlington Public Library is very supportive for correcting my paper. I appreciate the efforts made by the tutor of Arlington Public Library and helped me to develop essential writing skills.
