6. Hantavirus – 70, 000 Deaths A Year
Hantavirus is also called as House Mouse Flu. This virus commonly infects rodents but the interesting part is, it does not affect the rodents. Instead, humans are greatly affected by this virus. People get infected by this Hantavirus by getting in contact with rodent urine, feces or saliva. Person infected with this virus shows early symptoms such as headache, fever and myalgia. However, for severe cases of Hantavirus Infection, the early symptoms lead to deadly diseases which include Hantavirus hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome and Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome.
Infection of Hantavirus does not literally mean that you’ll get infected once you got in contact with the rodent. Infection only happens

The virus is transmitted to humans through the contaminated female Aedes mosquito bites. Once the virus gets into the body, it circulates for 7 days where the early symptoms occur such as nausea or diarrhea, high fever and muscle and joint pain. However, if this infection gets severe and left untreated, it will put the life of the person at risk due to acute low blood pressure and internal bleeding.
The infection begins with an increase of the body temperature to 41 degrees together with its flu-like signs. However, after few days of fever, symptoms of circulatory failure will emerge. And last, the person infected with Rabies virus may experience state of shock and eventually die within 12-24 hours.
According to World Health Organization, their estimation of the number of people who are in danger of developing dengue fever is already 2.5 million. This dengue fever is the top cause of death in tropical and subtropical countries and this infection recently acquired an epidemic condition in over 100 countries in the world.
There is still no definite treatment and vaccine for this virus but as of now, frequent potential vaccines are being studied, processed and
That covers everything from cold and flu viruses to more serious clinical pathogens like HIV and hepatitis viruses and ultimately even more deadly viruses like Ebola and smallpox." ‘ said Rider, because Rider and his team have managed to create a drug that may be capable of killing a range of 15 unique viruses, there may be hope for treating viral infections. The new drug, DRACO, searches for cells with double stranded RNA—a definite sign of a viral infection. If the drug finds a virus, it sends a message to the cell to
It is believed that the fruit bats first carried the disease Ebola. Being that it is contagious, scientists and doctors believe the disease first transferred to humans when people ate the fruit bats. With the Red Death, you died within thirty minutes. In those times, they were not sanitary. They could have had the symptoms for a long time and not known about it until it became severe, the day, or hour, they would die.
Try me, I thought. I was not prepared. In 1989, a new strain of ebolavirus wreaked havoc in a monkey house in Reston, Virginia, only a few miles from where I currently live. Ebola Reston has a 90% mortality rate and
This plague is bacterial, which means that it is easily treated with antibiotics. The key to being able to survive this plague is being able to recognize the symptoms early on, so you can get treated. If any person were to experience any symptoms of this disease, they should immediately seek treatment. If anyone starts to see signs of this disease after they visit the Yosemite National Park, I urge that they seek medical treatment immediately. Many of the symptoms related to this disease are chills, nausea, fever, swollen lymph nodes, headaches and weakness.
Plague infects both people and rodents. The transmission of the disease can infect the population faster via rodents. Fleas feeding on infected rodents can transmit the disease to people as well. Once infected, people can infect others by coughing, sneezing, or close talking. The origin of “The Black Death” dates to an outbreak in China during the 1330s.
In New York City, there is an infectious disease called leptospirosis that is linked to rats, just like the Bubonic Plague was. People who are exposed to rat infested environments are most likely to be affected. The disease can infect you if you come into contact with an infected rat’s urine or anything that has been contaminated by the infected rat’s urine. There are many subways in New York that are infested with rats and people have to be careful not to get infected in case any of these rats are carrying any diseases. Recently in New York’s Bronx borough, the disease has killed one person and left two sickened.
“Plague in Central America,” by Arana Xajila, in the years of 1519-1560 talks about a deadly plague that derives from Europe to Mesoamerica (Central America) and spreads throughout Central America. This plague had spread to the people of Central America when their tribe, Cakchiquels, were fighting against the Spaniards. The Spaniards that were fighting in the tribe had passed on this deadly plague to the Cakchiquels tribe who then passed it on to others in Central America. This plague can be known as the influenza (flu). This deadly virus was spreading rapidly and soon everyone in Central America were affected.
The virus generally disappears in a few weeks. Christopher Columbus is considered to be the explorer who brought measles (as well as many
In response to the Ebola scare in 2014, many people evinced strong fear and xenophobia (Kim, 2016). Especially about the zombie-like symptoms of the virus. In addition how does the virus slowly kills the victim without even realizing that he’s suffering from Ebola virus by replicating and filling the body with crystallized viruses hence damaging the human cells just like a new living organism controls another’s body and killing it bit by bit. To exemplify my relatives used to live in kenya about 43 years ago they were surrounded by ill people that make them terrified and fearful of getting the highly contagious disease, therefore they left kenya and currently they live in the UAE. The most complicated part if you were surrounded by Ebola virus is to calm people down and instead of leaving the country finding beneficial solutions so that the virus won’t disperse from one country to another.
It seems to be pretty much incurable. Doctors have tried to help cure it but those who they helped died and then those who help usually get the sickness and also die. It is so contagious they seem to catch it whenever they go near the sick so it is not much help. 9.) The few cures we have included rubbing onions on sores, rubbing cut up snakes on the sores or scrubbing vinegar all over the body.
The American-French Doctors in Philadelphia, 1793, tried to treat yellow fever. Foreign ships brought the deadly infected mosquitoes to America. People got this disease by blood to blood contact, which is when an infected mosquito bites someone, and then bites another. Now, because of this blood to blood contact, over 4000 people died. So now, let 's get to the facts.
From the gentlest to the most fatal, the Ebola trio is ranked as Marburg, Ebola Sudan, and Ebola Zaire. However, in a quest to determine a new strain of Ebola, scientists discover a harmless-to-humans but fatal-to-monkeys agent known as Ebola Reston. Marburg virus can affect humans like nuclear radiation by virtually damaging all the tissues in their bodies. Ebola and Marburg are both viruses that cause hemorrhagic fevers, organ failures, brain damage, and death. AIDS, a virus emphasized alongside the Ebolas, is stated to be the most environmental disaster of the twentieth century (page 227).
Measles: Measles is a highly infectious disease caused by a virus. Virus lives in the throat of people and mucus of the nose with this infection. Physical contact, sneezing and coughing can spread the infection. Infected droplets of mucus can remain contagious and active for around two hours. Means that the virus can live outside the body .
Now it’s possible to get not only your common house pet, but also wild animals treatment to protect them against Rabies and Parvovirus. Parvovirus is a very deadly disease for
Smallpox outbreaks have occurred from time to time for thousands of years, but the disease is now eradicated after a successful worldwide vaccination program. The last naturally occurring case in the world was in Somalia in 1977. After the disease was eliminated from the world, routine vaccination against smallpox among the general public was stopped because it was no longer necessary for prevention. In 1970, when smallpox was nearly eradicated, a previously unrecognized orthopoxvirus named monkey pox was identified in humans.
