It causes mental health to erode such as depression and anxiety. Living as subject of discrimination prevents people from having equal opportunities to better their lives and is the primary reason for higher levels of unemployment and underemployment. Worst case, it causes death and suicidal among the victims due to stress and pressure. Racism happens daily and affects so many people. How can one live with oneself for causing someone so much trouble?
The people in Maycomb are mostly zealots and describe him as a terrible person who has done terrible things but the people saying this story truly don’t know what happened. They just know the myths
Therefore, not everyone appreciates what they have, when others will. Overall, many people over exaggerate when their having a bad day, when others are probably having it way worse. This relates to “To kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee book, in many different ways. In the book she talks about Tom Robinson going to prison for something that was never done, which is horrible because he should not spend the rest of his life behind bars when he is innocent. This relates to most of us in life because people always tend to consider a bad, just because their day either does not go the way they planned.
In Cry the Beloved Country Racism is used in many different ways but one big way is the political power. Blacks have no true leader and they are constantly being held down by the white men. The white men came in and took over but did not do it in a nice way. “It
“Racism is the belief that characteristics and abilities can be attributed to people simply on the basis of their race and that some racial groups are superior to others. “(Shah, Racism) Throughout the years, cops have been taking their protection to caution to the point where people are stopped unnecessarily because of their race. Racism affects all of us. Furthermore, at least, been impacted from any sort of racism, but mostly young adults aged from 13-17. These problems occur from people spreading hate and typical stereotypes. One recent conflict with racism is about blacks and their protest “Black Lives Matter.” They are exhausted from pointing out the abundant evidence of institutionalized racism that is all around us, tired of calling for a national dialogue on race that has gone unanswered, and exasperated at white people’s inability to empathize and recognize that change is needed.”(Fleshman, “Yes, Racism is still a problem in America”) Where did racism exactly start?
Whether it’s race, religion, gender, etc., many people encounter bigotry in different ways. Islam is one of the religions that is discriminated against the most because of the stereotypes people have brought upon it. Muslims have experienced hate crimes, the travel ban, and intense security at the airport from the assumption that all Muslims are terrorists. There have been many recent reports of people discriminating against Muslims (violently or not), proving that it’s still happening in society today. The film Remember the Titans deals with the idea of discrimination, specifically racism, in America very well.
The older hispanic children require more attention than anyone, because we are constantly having to try and keep them in line. It gets very frustrating, because they know what they are doing is wrong (whether its fighting other children, not listening to the teachers, etc.) but they do it anyways, they do not care. My personal opinion is that the YMCA has not served the hispanic children well overall. The teachers and staff are not as educated as they should be.
Today, America is an ignorant society, many believe that racism has ended throughout every corners of the world and this is far from the truth. American society likes to pretend, they also like to believe in the virtue of this country. We tend to think and believe that racism is a thing from the past and Racism is everywhere in the country and in this world it causes so much racial tensions from people with the a different skin color to religions to race and gives people so many to question how far we have really come from the days of ‘slavery’. These issues can actually be seen in a daily life from papers saying “police force violence against minorities” the well studied arguments on immigration and the obvious separations of urban neighborhoods in large cities. The negative behavior on people generations to generation and discrimination to others is ignorance about a person’s life.
They also begin to feel that as minorities they are in this inequality together, in return they can start to discriminate, stereotype, and prejudice the majority group in America. This can cause war and conflict in our society today. The final trait is minorities tend to be endogamous, meaning member tend to marry other members of the group. This can be imposed by the majority as in the case of laws against miscegenation. This is also problematic to our society because people of the majority can begin to look at the minority groups as even more inferior.
Now you see so many young people that are too scared to talk in classes because they know how cruel some people are. We don 't need that kind of violence in this world. I admire Fedrick Douglass for his commitment of looking foward to life when all this racism stops . If you notice his
