One of the finest technology invented in the 1800’s were railroads and locomotives( Also known as trains). However, trains were first developed in Great Britain in the early 1800s. Until Peter Cooper built the first locomotive in the 1830s. The train was called the Tom Thumb. That is when locomotives became popular in United states. The reason locomotives became popular was because of its speed and power. It became so popular, in 1840 railroad companies laid about 2,800 miles of track. Which at that time, that was the more than existed.
