Rajit Kapoor says it feels nice to be in Chennai as it has a discerning audience. He also adds that that the Chennai audience goes overboard if they like something and if they don’t like something, they will express their displeasure immediately. He says he feels fortunate to have been brought here for the play by Cherry Pick. Rajit tells us that the play is about friends meeting 13 to 14 years after they all graduated together. It is about a group of people who

He said he acted in the play 25 years ago and he directed in the play two years ago. He says you can get mesmerized with the play as the characters are well edged. We asked him whether Indian theatre has made it internationally. The actor added ‘Certain works of theatre artists have across borders and they have done well. Earlier classical Indian musicians and dancers were known worldwide but now, our theatre have started stepping across the border. Even Rage theatre has performed in a theatre festival in South Korea. We have also performed in Amsterdam and London.’ He feels the percentage may be small but it is happening a lot. We also wanted him to give a message for all aspiring actors out there. He feels it is important to be relentless in what you take up and adds that it will take years to establish oneself. Rajit says that acting is not a nine to five job and you have to start from zero and that also depends on what you want from yourself. We were curious to know how he goes about playing a character and he said he starts with the script as that is the base and the platform to begin
Better by Atul Gawande, one aspect that caught my attention that makes me want to do something better in my work setting is patient negligent. When you negligent something, although you may not notice it, it is still consider negligent. When Atul spoke about Peter doctor not noticing a tumor in his x-ray, and later Peter development lymphoma (Gawande, 2007), that is consider negligent. Working at an Adult Day Health center, there are many situations that you hear from clients telling one another how they are unhappy about their kids treating them or simply not getting along with his/her kids. Hearing these stories, it is hard not wanting to do something about it.
The setting only takes place in Vanya and Sonia’s living room. The play included the familiarity of Durang’s, but now with an integrated modernized influence. My experience watching Vaaz’s take of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike was humorous, entertaining, and enjoyable.
For those of us who are theatre connoisseurs, the hilarious mind of Steve Martin writing a play is a dream come true. Martin’s career is a roller coaster ride, changing from dramatic to comic effortlessly. Picasso at the Lapin Agile provides the audience with subtle as well as obvious comedy, factually structured storylines, and a glimpse into the mind of a true theatrical professional. Inspired by his love of art, Picasso at the Lapin Agile is a farcical masterpiece, written by one of the greatest comedians of all time; Steve Martin.
In Liz Flahive’s play From Up Here, she explains how a family deals with the aftermath and acceptance of a school shooting at the hands of their son/brother. In some way or another they all deal with the acceptance, or lack thereof, from those that are around them. Many themes are covered in this play such as betrayal, acknowledgment and looking deeper than what is on the surface. In the beginning of the show you get this overwhelming feeling that this family has does not listen to each other.
Tragedy struck tonight in Washington DC ending with 2 murders and killers out on the loose. Tonight Abraham Lincoln, Mrs. Lincoln, Henry Rathbone, and his wife all attended the following play “Our American Cousin” written by Laura Keene. With the Lincoln’s arriving late, John Wilkes Booth had the advantage of knowing exactly where the Lincolns were located. Hiding in the darkness of the theater John Wilkes Booth was able to sneak towards the President’s box with a .44 caliber and a knife ready for an easy attack since there seemed to be no guards out on the watch.
Plautus was a play writer and an actor born in Italy in 254 BCE and died 184 BCE, he was a great Roman comic dramatist whose work was sparsely adapted from Greek plays; he began his carrier as an actor. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Ignorance Vs. Reason in the War on Education Kareem Abdul-Jabber writes an article explaining the attack on education and the serious problems in the classroom involving teachers and students. Abdul-Jabbar describes how students only hold on to one perspective; students should explore different perspectives on topics, and question education’s opinions on practical matters. Republicans, Democrats, and non-partisan discuss this controversy over education.
One of the most important in this particular play is the acting. The actors are good at adapting from one role to the next and switching accessories quickly. The different use of British and other accents in a stereotypical but serious way. The director attempts to make the play successful by bringing everything to life and using the actors to do everything in a smooth and funny matter.
The adults in Salem, Oregon in Stephen Karam’s Speech & Debate had good reason to treat the teens as if they were children. If Diwata, Solomon, and Howie were an accurate representation of the other students at the school, it is no wonder that the parents, teachers, and school board sought to exercise an abundance of control and provide too much guidance in their lives. The three teens dealt with “grown-up” issues throughout the play, but they tried to tackle them in characteristically childish ways. In the opening scene of the play, viewers are introduced to Howie, an openly gay 18-year-old.
Acting has always been more than just a passion for me. It is a powerful medium through which I aspire to inspire and make a positive impact on others' lives. The KB Delta Scholarship holds immense significance for me as it not only provides financial assistance but also recognizes the potential of aspiring young people to create change. Acting possesses a unique ability to touch hearts, challenge perspectives, and ignite empathy. As an actor, I aim to use my craft to tell stories that resonate with audiences, spark conversations, and provoke thought.
The Monologue I chose to do on the play “Selkie” involves the mother, Margaret, the mother of Ellen Jean. The Setting is in a small town but the monologue takes place on the beach at night. Also it takes place around a hundred years ago like it said….though I don’t exactly remember where I read it. Margaret is also a “Selkie” creature but had her pelt taken away from her so she couldn’t go back home, which is in the sea!
First I want to say that each actor fulfilled the role to be played with their decent level of acting. But sadly my compliments are overshadowed by the workload being inflicted onto two main actors within the play. Sobal which I actually am praising this time, has been able to consistently act his characters to a decent level to where I cannot complain about him. Mallari on the other hand has had an amazing start at the beginning of the play, but
Paul uses the disconnect between the Upper East Side couples and children to get his way. Throughout the play, Paul is able to figure out what makes people tick and exploit it. For the Upper East Side families, he’s able to give the parents the perfect child that they never had—and never deserved. He is able to shed light on the image of their perfect lives, and show the reality that their kids really hate them. In the play’s first scene, Louisa talks about elephants—everyone knows they exist but there’s an agreement not to discuss them.
On March 28th, I had the pleasure of attending the Broadway show called “The Play That Goes Wrong,” located at the Lycuem Theatre on 149 West 45th Street. On this particular Tuesday evening, I just had a vibe that something wrong was going to happen in this play – shockingly. I did believe this play will truly be memorable judging by the fun quirk of the show’s name. After watching the performance for about two hours, I can conclude that this play went beyond my expectation as its set disasters and characters amusingly caught the attention of me and the rest of the audience.
Artists; Betye Saar, Kara Walker, Michael Ray Charles, and Kerry James Marshall all create art stemming from race and stereotypes, and although their works have the same subject matter, their influences somewhat differ. Betye Saar likes to use characters such as Aunt Jemima, Uncle Tom, and other stereotypes from folk culture, and advertising in her works, and often using collages or assemblages to showcase those works. She once stated that “I’m the type of person who recycles material but I also recycle emotions and feelings.” Kara Walker is known for creating black-and-white silhouette works. Her subjects draw critical attention to the earlier cultural time of the pre-Civil War United States.
