He asked his wife, “Why the whole village? Give me a reason to why should I feed them?”
Savitri replied, “If you wish so, then I shall not make sweets for the whole village. However, I shall share some sweets with my good friend Meena and her family.”
Raju continued to be upset. He told his wife, “No, I cannot spend that kind of money”.
Hearing this, Savitri lost a little of her enthusiasm. She said, “I shall then make some sweets for us and our servants”.
Raju continued to be adamant. He said, “Why do the servants need sweets? They are paid well, and we give them enough to eat”.
Hearing this, his wife became upset. With little enthusiasm, she said, “Alright, I shall make for the four of us.”
Raju was unwavering and said, “Children are at school, so they don’t need to

“I gave the money in my free will, and who are you to question me?”
Raju was taken aback. How could he prove that he was the real Raju. He thought, “Who was this impostor giving away my wealth?”
Raju quickly approached the King who ruled the palace. The King ordered both the Raju’s to be present at his court. Nobody cud believe their eyes. Both looked the same.
How can I decide who is telling the truth? I am lost”, said the king. He decided to take Savitri’s help.
Savitri came forward, and she looked at one Raju and asked, “Is it better to be generous and kind with everyone, your family, servants, neighbors and all? Or keep everything to yourself?”
“Better be generous, make everybody happy, which in turn will make you happy” came the reply.
She then asked the same question to the other Raju, “No! I don’t want to waste money on others happiness! There is no use being nice to others!!” was the other Raju’s answer.
Savitri turned to the king and pointed to the first Raju. She said, “This is my husband, your majesty”.
The real Raju was shocked beyond belief. ”My wife… my family,” he was almost in tears.
Suddenly there was a flash and God appeared as himself in front of
The uncle introduced Mr.Chhay to Ma and proposed that Sourdi be married to him because he is financially stable. I can totally relate to this because my parents were arranged married and they expect the same for me as well. They believe that love marriages end way before they even start. It was the beginning of the end.

As Alexie states in his short story, to fail in the non-Indian world is expected of Indian children. Alexie refuses to fail and instead he succeeds. Alexie’s underdog tale appeals to everyone, but certain aspects of his story are more identifiable to some groups. The struggle

In his book the Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Sherman Alexie portrays a teenage boy, Arnold Spirit (junior) living in white man’s world, and he must struggle to overcome racism and stereotypes if he must achieve his dreams. In the book, Junior faces a myriad of misfortunes at his former school in ‘the rez’ (reservation), which occurs as he struggles to escape from racial and stereotypical expectations about Indians. For Junior he must weigh between accepting what is expected of him as an Indian or fight against those forces and proof his peers and teachers wrong. Therefore, from the time Junior is in school at reservation up to the time he decides to attend a neighboring school in Rearden, we see a teenager who is facing tough consequences for attempting to go against the racial stereotypes.
“Mai Thi stared at it all. “Thit bo kho?” she asked. “It will be by the time we’re done,” said Mrs. Bigio. “The curry and gingerroot are in the front pocket there.
In the short story ``By Any Other Name'', Santha Rau talks about her childhood, going to a school with a majority of English students and teachers. On the first few days of school Santha and her sister began to realize how their Indian culture made them different then their peers. The moment of realization was during lunchtime: “The children were all opening packages and sitting down to eat sandwiches. Premillia and I were the only ones who had Indian food.” (Rau 10)
‘“I said no. This is ridiculous. I'm exhausted. I'm not filling it back in”’ (104). In the end she left them to go and be spoiled by her parents in the city.
It is clear that they are taking the opportunity to also confess their wrongdoings and ask for forgiveness. When the stranger met Walton, he instantly knew that he warned Walton because he could tell that Walton was adventuring blindly without any thoughtful considerations or concrete plan to make it a success. The stranger hopes that Walton will not follow his dreadful path and will change redefine his plans. This scenario emphasizes the main theme of the book which encourage the readers to think about how individuals can greatly impact the society based on their determined course of actions. The author definitely points out the importance of examining every facet of details in using the knowledge we acquired to make decisions.
In chapters five and six, Wiser discusses the importance of animals. Wiser also discusses the role of women in Karimpur, the addition of newborns into the village, and some of the marriage traditions of the villagers. In chapters seven and eight, Wiser discusses the education and observed behaviors of the youth of the village. Like most children, the children of the village may play and try to get a little bit of education.
Overcoming a challenge, not giving up, and not being afraid of change are a few themes demonstrated in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. Perhaps the most prominent theme derived from the novel is defying the odds, or in other words rising above the expectations of others. Junior Spirit exemplifies this theme throughout the entirety of the book. As Junior is an Indian, he almost expects that he will never leave the reservation, become an alcoholic, and live in poverty like the other Indians on the reservation—only if he sits around and does not endeavor to change his fate. When Junior shares the backstory of his parents, he says that his mother and father came from “poor people who came from poor people who came from poor people, all the way back to the very first poor people” (11).
