Biography:
Ralph Nader was born in 1934 for the town of Winsted, Connecticut.For most of his life he was in academia either as a student or as a professor at multiple universities,”.In 1955 Ralph Nader received an AB magna cum laude from Princeton University, and in 1958 he received a LLB with distinction from Harvard University.”( Nader Biography).He then spent the next four years either practicing law in Hartford or lecturing at the local university.The next year he wrote a book,”Unsafe at Any Speed” this book was so well read that it had major repercussion ,”The book led to congressional hearings and a series of automobile safety laws passed in 1966.” ( Nader Biography). There was an issue with counting the ballot in most parts of Florida.The role my candidate played was not a huge one looking at the results as usual with third party candidates there was no electoral college votes that he received.When it came to the general election he received (2.74%) of the vote.For multiple years it was hypothesized that the cost Al Gore the election ,but that was later debunked by a 2010 article called the .( Disinfo).
Historical Similarities There are multiple similarities between this election and the 2000 election the first of which would be that a non mainstream candidate took mainstage once again for a long period of time. Although both candidates strongly leaned left it is already seeing that supporter of both candidates are not so willing to support the official candidate of the Democratic party. The lasting effects of Bernie’s campaign could be similar to Nader’s in how he asks the question,”How can he bend the party to his will without breaking it?” ( politico).
