Introduction
As time passes by, less people know the name Ramon Magsaysay. Even less people know what he did or what happened to him. And the reason behind his death, behind that plane crash on Mt. Manunggal is the most mysterious thing about him and is clouded with speculation. “Who is Ramon Magsaysay?, “What makes him so significant?”, “How did he die?, and “What were possible factors of his death?”, Such are the questions I’ve taken into account whilst writing this paper. Cesar Chavez had a great pride towards everything he stood for, whether it was his catholic beliefs or protecting his fellow man from the oppressor. Growing up in America, Cesar Chavez witnessed discrimination from being Mexican first hand. By growing up in a family oriented catholic home, he was raised to care about the well being of others and to approach life in a nonviolent manner. Having a father who was a farmer, he witnessed the poor living conditions and wages that were given to him and knew that something had to be done. One reason Chavez was an effective leader was his ability to work with people and empower them. Chavez believed he could accomplish what others had not been able to. He worked within his community; being a migrant worker he was able to understand what other migrant workers went through. Chavez
José Antonio de Areche’s letter titled “All Must Die” shows a first-hand account of the tensions between the people of Peru, the Incas, and the Spaniards, that have overtaken the Incas’ land and inflicted their laws and customs on them. The letter clearly illustrates the nation’s divide between two very different cultures, races, and ways of life, as well the need for change within their country. In the letter, José Antonio de Areche gives instructions on how to execute José G. Túpac Amaru, his wife, his two sons, his brother-in-law, and his uncle. Due to the fact that Túpac Amaru was the leader of, what is known as, the Great Revolution, as well as the fact that his followers also believed he was an Inca monarch, Antonio de Areche took lengthy measures to publicly disgrace him in an effort to crush any ideas of rebellion as well as scare his
When it comes to certain topics, multiple interpretations can be revealed, as an argument progresses. Sometimes it may be hard to tell which side is in the right. Subsequently, opinions continuously fly back and forth between individuals who can’t seem to stop disagreeing with each other. Moreover, internal conflicts occasionally arise as well, within each individual, due to new information that develops from their personal trials. Finding a piece of literature where the reader can relate to is a great fortune.

Works of post-modern literature raise questions about life and the human condition. The questions raised by the author not always answered in the text. Juniot Diaz’s novel, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is an example of this. In the novel the motif of love and violence raises the question, “How closely aligned is love or the lack of it to violence or madness?” The author provides no clear answer to this question and the questions helps to emphasize the meaning of the work as a whole.

After all, they were killed before they could see Trujillo’s regime topple. And the sisters arguably did little to impact Trujillo’s reign and his assassination several months after their deaths.

Let this essay be a reminder to the world that totalitarian ideologies will bring forth catastrophe just as National Socialism did in Nazi Germany. The memoirs of Rudolf Hoss, Death Dealer, is one of the most detailed accounts of a man who was the Commandant of Auschwitz, and is known as one of the greatest mass murderers in history. In the forward Primo Levi wrote to Death Dealer, he stated that even though this autobiography is filled with evil and has no literary quality, it’s one of the most instructive books ever published because it describes a human life exemplary in its way (Hoss, 3). In this essay, I will argue that Primo Levi thought Death Dealer is one of the most instructive books because it seeks to explain how ordinary men
