In the paragraphs that follow this introduction, Jackson gives us characters’ full names Bobby Martin, Harry Jones, and Dickie Delacroix, including others. Distant from being redundant or unrelated, these original particular facts milled the story in realism. Because she arranges the story securely in a precise residence and time, Jackson appears to recommend that the story will be a history of orders, defining the rituals of the lottery. The details regenerate through the story, from the frequent system of Mr. Summer’s surveys to the names of the individuals who are shouted leading to the box. In a way, there is wellbeing in these points—the realm Jackson produces appears abundant to the unique one we distinguish and then the stoning initiates, spiraling realism on its cranium.

They are truly fascinating narratives that show just how gracious as well as how mean people can be. While some of the characters are utterly flawed, they are realistic and relatable in their human flaws. What makes Harding’s novels so intriguing is the relatability not only of their characters but also of their plots. The happenings in her novels including the meanness, drama, accidents, and embarrassment are what could actually happen in any real life community. The pacing of the narratives is also very good with not a dull moment anywhere in the novels.
Character development may also be attributed to the Monomyth by Campbell. The Monomyth is a template where it attributes a hero getting called to an adventure, overcomes a crisis and is victorious, and then returns home with a renewed mind. During this journey, the hero meets up with characters that either help or hinder the journey, the mentor and the antagonist. These representative characters are usually distinct from one another. In The Walking Dead, the character Kenny seems to embody both the mentor and antagonist.

One feature that Inman incorporates into this comic is the use of panel transitions. While most comics often have definite, square panels to depict each action, scene, moment, or subject, Inman does not have clearly outlined panels. The absence of thick, black boxes separating each thought allows for more interaction with the comic. Even though there are not any square panels, there are clear scene-to-scene transitions throughout. This is because the majority of the comic is describing things that the Blerch does or says to Matthew Inman.
