In response to a flaw found in the school system, the author of “The Early Bird Gets the Bad Grade”, Nancy Kalish argues that in order for teenage students to reach their full potential and perform well throughout the school day, their early mornings should start later. In her article, she supports this argument by appealing to her readers using emotional appeals, asking rhetorical questions, and providing expert opinions. To begin, in the first paragraph, Kalish uses an emotional appeal, to appeal to her readers and impact their view of her argument. For example, she states, “many of them [teenagers] stayed up late the night before, but not because they wanted to.” Saying this she is relating to teenage students and emphasizing their frustration

In his opening argument Deford references Myles Brand, but he never quotes or gives a full view of the response from Brand. Brand responds to a previous piece Deford wrote, but Deford fails to addresses the text Brand is commenting on. The reader questions the previously written information and why no account of the previous article exists. Also, Deford fails to provide statistics of the numbers of scholarships awarded to collegiate athletes and to band members. The reader does not understand how substantial the difference in numbers of scholarships awarded.

Political scientists and historians have always been on the opposite sides on the subject of how a decision is made. Political Scientists claim that by knowing a few details into the major players prior preferences that all future actions can be predicted by using that Rational Actors Model. However, historians refute this theory arguing that without knowing the context or the environment of the player, one can never truly understand the decision making process. By using the events which led to the internment of Japanese Americans I hope to show that any event can fit the model in hindsight but at the time of the actual decision there could have been many options for Japanese Americans short of internment.

We all know and love science fiction books such as the Giver, the Hunger Games, Divergent, and much more. What we do not know about these books is that their is a deeper meaning, trying to teach us about a flaw in our society. In the Giver and Harrison Bergeron their are these themes that are trying to teach us about our world. The Giver and Harrison Bergeron’s themes are commentary on our unwillingness to accept our differences, and constant worry of making wrong decisions.
Expensive Textbooks Thesis: High-priced college textbooks are a financial burden on students. To gather information for my argument, I would need information from the bookstore and publishing companies. The publishing company would help with my opposition. The bookstore would give me the procedure for ordering books, and they would inform me on ways to save money. I would need to interview students about their opinions on the cost.
