In the short story “Raymond's Run” by Toni Cade Bambara, a girl named Hazel or Squeaky (nickname) is a character who may seem disrespectful and impolite on the outside, but she is kindhearted on the inside. Squeaky is admirable because she is tough, she stands up for her brother, and she is confident in her running ability.

My first reason Squeaky is admirable is because she is tough. For example, Squeaky says “I must rather knock you down and take my chances.” on page 1.
